Yes. Every day one or two matches are being played. My sons and my brother's son will be sitting before the TV till the matches of the day are over. I also watch sometimes these matches. Slowly in cricket bowlers are losing their importance and batsmen are gaining more and more popularity. In my childhood days, I used to hear equally about bowlers also. Thos days 20 overs games were not there. But now T20 gained more popularity than the other two formats. This may be the reason for bowlers losing their importance.
I am a fan of the Hyderabad team. Now this team is in 4th position from the top. I will be happy if at least this team reaches finals. On the 28th of April, I went to Delhi and returned in the evening. That day there was a match in Hyderabad and the roads were very crowded and it took 3 hours for me to reach home from the airport. Normally, it takes one hour.

The IPL is absolutely electrifying this season, especially with the mind-blowing run rates teams are achieving. A whopping 200 runs on the scoreboard is now the norm. Teams are absolutely dominating during the power play overs setting the stage on fire with their explosive batting performances. Let's wait and watch which teams qualify for the playoffs.

    May I suggest--
Members could contribute their personal views on something interesting that happened just before, during, or after the match or something on the sidelines, like something that caught your eye in the crowd when you were watching it on TV. After, just stating who played whom, who won, who lost, the scores, etc can be easily known to all and sundry through online and print media and many of you will be watching it live anyway. Hence, don't you think it would be boring just to lay out statistical data? Let's add some uniqueness to this thread!

Dr Rao mentioned getting stuck in a more-than-usual traffic jam due to a game on that day-- that brings out the gist of the obsession of a cricket-crazy nation. Fans are willing to travel miles, and pay for high-priced tickets with the urge to be there in the stadium to cheer for their teams, and who cares about reaching back home at midnight?!

Vandana, you are very right. I myself was feeling that monotony!

Yesterday's (2nd May 2024) match between between SRH (Sunrisers Hyderabad) and RR (Rajasthan Royals) was very exciting and thrilling. SRH had scored 201/3 in 20 overs and RR was trying to defeat that score but the situation became critical when at the last ball they required to score 2 runs to win but could not make even a single run. The last ball was delivered by Bhuvneshwar Kumar who became the hero of the day.
It is a memorable win for SRH team.

Yesterday I was watching the SRH and RR match. I did not venture to go out fearing about the traffic. The stadium is just 4 km away from my house. But I preferred watching on TV only. My elder son and my brother's son were also watching the match. RR team was going with great guns. Two catches were dropped. After 10 overs they were 102 for 2. We thought SRH would lose. Then I went to sleep. But my brother's son continued watching. After 40 minutes he woke me up to see the last over. Last ball 2 runs are required for RR to win. Bhuvaneswar Kumar was the bowler and the last ball was bowled to our surprise Robin was out for LBW and Hyderabad won by one run. Such games are making people go after cricket matches. Anyhow, RR was beaten by SRH. I think this is the second time that the team lost in this series. Bhuvaneswar Kumar was adjudged the man of the match. But 18 and 19th overs made the difference.

Yesterday's match between Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was quite interesting till MI started batting to answer the 169/10 score of KKR. The MI team collapsed soon and could make only 145 runs in the stipulated overs and lost the match.
With this KKR is now emerging at 2nd spot.

This season MI is not performing well. I think the team's new captain cannot get things right. His performance is also not good. In yesterday's match, the MI bowlers did very well and restricted KKR to a low score. But what is the use? All batsmen except SKY failed to chase the low score.

IPL 2024 is progressing ahead steadily and all the teams are doing their best to score more points to reach the qualifier rounds and then only they can expect to go to the final one.
Out of a total 74 matches so far 52 have been played and right now pointwise teams RR, KKR, and LSG are at the top slots but it would be exciting to see whether they can maintain these positions in the coming days.
The winners will get the prizes and just to mention that prize money in IPL has always been a lucrative proposition as champions receive a reward of Rs 20 crore, followed by runners-up securing Rs 13 crore. Teams finishing third and fourth are rewarded Rs 7 crore and Rs 6.5 crore respectively.
Then their are other awards like
'The Orange Cap' for the top run-scorer, 'Purple Cap' for the season's highest wicket-taker, Emerging Player of the Tournament, Most Valuable Player, Power Player of the Season, Game Changer of the Season, and Super Striker of the Season.

SRH team and CSK teams are in 4th and 5th places. We have to wait and see out of these two who will be in the 4th place finally. Tomorrow there is a match between MI and SRH. If SRH wins this match, they may go to 3rd place in the points table and their chances of reaching the semifinals will increase. Today LSG has to play with KKR and this match is going to be very interesting both the teams are at the top. In the first match today CSK won and came to 4th place pushing SRH to 5th place. Both teams have the same number of points but CSK played one match more than the Hyderabad team.

Yesterday's match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) was almost a one sided match.
Sunil Narine's score of 81 was spectacular and gave the early signals of victory for KKR team.
With that KKR was able to secular number one in the points table.
So far 54 matches out of a scheduled 74 are completed and we are gradually moving to the end of the season.
The competition is heating up and fan's excitement is also growing.

CSK lost the match against GT. MI and Punjab Kings are the two teams that are eliminated from the tournament. Chennai, Delhi and Lucknow have 10 points. One of them may come to 4th position. KKR is leading and today they have a match with MI. The remaining 2 teams are with 10 points each. But they also have a chance to make it to the final four. The tournament is becoming very interesting.

Next match (65th) scheduled for today (15.05.24) is between RR and PBKS.

Yesterday LSG lost its match to DC. DC won the match and probably this will be the last match for this team in this tournament. By winning DC, cleared a berth in the playoffs for RR. Now KKR and RR the two teams reached playoffs. Eventhough Chennai is in 3rd position as of now, it has to play only one match and SRH has to play two matches. So chances are high for SRH to go to playoffs. The 4th team may be CSK. Anyhow, till all the matches are over, nothing is sure for CSK and SRH. The tournament is reaching its climax and bringing interest to cricket lovers.
