Is performance of Indian players in international level games improving?

In the past few years, Govt has taken many new initiatives and measures for increasing the facilities in the area of sports and enabling growth of sports industry. There are schemes motivating good players to do practice in their favourite sport and then participate in selection for national and international teams. We are seeing a positive result of all those efforts as our sportsmen are presenting a better performance in the international matches or games.
What is your view about the progress of our country in preparing sportsmen to participate in international level games? Can we expect more medals in the coming international games? Please share your knowledge in this area.

There is an improvement in the performance of our players internationally. The Indian cricket team performed very well in the World Cup and did not even lose a match till the finals. Unfortunately, it has lost in the finals. In the latest Olympic games also the performance of our players and teams was better than in earlier times. Even in Asian games, we got more medals than in earlier games.
The present government is giving good importance to sports and allocating good funds for developing players of various games. BCCI is powerful and making good efforts to encourage good players and we can see many new players performing very well in IPL. I am expecting further development in this area in the coming few years . I Hope good players will get encouragement from the government and bring fame to our country in the coming years.

I don't think the present government has taken any special or additional steps to improve the performance of our sports persons. Having seen the wrestling stars sitting on the roads with the government turning a blind eye to them, I doubt whether the government has any interest in supporting or motivating our sports persons. Let me be frank in stating that any individual/ team victories are purely due to their efforts and hard work and the government has nothing to do with it.

As I gather information and report from the media and newspapers, everywhere there is a mention that there is improvement in the performance of Indian players especially in international contests like Asian games, Commonwealth games, Olympics, Chess championships, etc. But I have not found a perceptible data which confirms it. Though Govt has launched many schemes and large funds for improvement in sports but the returns do not seem commensurate with it.
It is said that political interferences and biasing in selection process are the root cause of discouragement in the deserving candidates.
Still, some individuals are coming up and performing briallently bringing medals in international games.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

Yes, the performance of Indian players in international level games has been improving significantly. There are several factors contributing to this positive trend:

Increased government support: The Indian government has been investing heavily in sports development, leading to better infrastructure, training facilities, and financial support for athletes.

Focus on grassroots development: Programs like Khelo India are identifying and nurturing young talent from across the country, ensuring a steady pipeline of promising athletes.

While there's still room for improvement, the recent performance of Indian athletes in various sports like cricket, badminton, tennis, shooting, and wrestling is a testament to the progress made.
