How would you react if you prepare for a wrong subject for the exam?

Imagine you are a student appearing for annual examination. You go to school to appear for exam. But one hour before the exam, you somehow realize that instead of preparing for mathematics you studied science the previous day. Obviously, you are panicked. So please explain your reaction and the ways you console yourself and how you would try to solve the situation. You might have had such experiences as a student. So please narrate your experience if any.

This would be a very discouraging and dreadful situation if it happens like that. It is believed that the revision and preparation done just on the previous day of examination is very crucial and many times help a student in scoring high. In this case that element is missing and could be detrimental factor for the student.
However if the student has done good preparation throughout the year and is good in the subject then one need not to become panicky and concentrate one's mind in answering the questions rather feeling discouraged by the incident.
Sometimes such things happen and we have to take them sportingly.

This is really a difficult proposition and thanks God I never experienced such a thing in my school days. Many of us will agree that the previous day of the exam is a very important day in the sense that certain things which even we could not understand but want to remember to reproduce in answering the exam paper can be mitigated only when we get a full day before that.
In such a situation one will have difficulty in coping up and that can even affect the score adversely.

    Knowledge is power.

I never had such a problem in my studies. Such a situation may happen very rarely. Students will be discussing among themselves the examination for the next day after finishing today's examination. In those discussions, every student will know what is the subject for the next day's examination. All the students will have a printed or written down timetable and refer to it after that day's examination is over. So such happening may be at ppm level or even less.
The majority of the students would complete their preparation for all subjects before the actual examinations start. They would complete even a review. So even though a student did not review the subject just one day before may not make any difference. So one need not panic. The student should console himself/ herself start recollecting the subject and start answering the question paper. If I were in that position, I would not waste my time and get upset, I try to do my best by attempting the question

The author has drawn attention to all students regarding their confusion. It might happen due to either overconfidence or lack of checking of examination -schedule. Such a gross mistake can affect the performance of a student. However, what has happened cannot be reverted back and hence the student should attempt to show his best by recalling the techniques to be employed in each question.
A candidate can write the correct response to each question if he has practised sufficiently in the past. Being panicked and not applying their mind to arrive at the right answer might be quite detrimental in terms of their career.

We have discussed this matter threadbare and so far no member has indicated that such a thing happened with him. As there are many members here I am interested to know whether such a thing happened with anyone during the school or college days? Please share.

I think it is difficult to see a person who faced such a situation. Such things will happen with very careless people only. Such people will never bother. They think whatever they know they answer and leave the examination hall. A student who wants to secure a good percentage will never commit such mistakes.

This actually happened to me when I was in tenth standard. [In those times 11th was school final]. I prepared well for social studies but when I accompanied with my classmate from next street he told me that day was science exam. I just startled but my classmate consoled me and told me whatever he prepared. With that hearing I wrote the exam well and succeeded. I never forget my friend.

For me this is a purely hypothetical situation. Throughout my student days and even for competitive test for jobs I was much cautious (even over cautious) as to double checking every important points and confirming and keeping proper tab and also to keeping mother and/or siblings about the exam time-table etc.
Now to really imagine about the thread title question situation: I never will have any problem because I always study lessons properly during class and at home well before exams. I never had the habit of preparing at the last minute. In fact I used to be relaxed on and the previous day of exam as I did not want to confuse or stress myself.

So I will not be affected even if I had to face that the subject is changed, because I can write that subject exam also pretty well due to my early study and preparation.

Now I would like to narrate a real happening to one of my classmates in Degree class. We were about five classmates from the same place. So in the final year final exams, all our theory papers were over without any confusion as we had combined study during study leave. But the practical exam schedule is different dates for each of us. But this particular classmate, who was always careless in many things, just forgot his practical exam ate. The day he reached the college for practical, the practical exams were all over. As I went out of station visiting my relatives, even I could not remind or enquire about his exam. He also did not disclose this to any of us for fear of consequences and ridicule. As he was absent, he failed. It was in the next attempt that he go his degree.
