No topper lists released in CBSE Board Results 2024. Is it a revolution in the education system?

The CBSE 10th and 12th Board results 2024 were released without declaring any topper lists, percentages, or aggregates according to the new educational policy implemented in 2019. Instead, merit certificates are awarded to the pupils who have scored the highest marks in each subject. However, it takes five years to significantly shift from the traditional ranking system, leading to undue peer pressure on the student community.

Do you think this represents a revolution in the education system fostering the learning environment from a rat race of solely chasing ranks? Let me have your feedback.

It is good to note that no toppers list is released. So these private corporate schools can't boast that the first rank candidate is from their institute. All state boards should adopt the same system. However, ranks in entrance tests can't be avoided as the seats are allotted based on the ranks.
My granddaughters are studying in a school in Bangalore. That school conduct various examinations but never gives any ranks to the students. This system has been in practice for a long and now that system is implemented by the CBSE board. I feel it is a good development. Giving merit certificates is a good idea and this will motivate the people to try better. But as mentioned by the author there will not be any rat race. Once it is implemented in full, I think the mindset of the students as well as their parents will change.

NELP implementation is showing its intended effects everywhere in our educational system. There are many processes and procedures which are modified to more and less extent under the new system.
Traditionally, we were habitual of seeing the marks and photographs of the toppers in the newspapers and now not finding them would surprise us but that is how it was already being followed by some private institutions.
Anyway, we will be seeing many such things in coming times as changes are being incorporated in the selection of subjects and their combinations by the candidates seeking admissions to various levels.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

It appears that some changes have been made from the earlier one in the CBSE merit system. It is a new system that the candidates having passed this year will be provided with a certificate of merit for their spectacular performance in a particular subject. Such a certificate can create a positive impact on a student. He can produce such a certificate before the Board of Interview to be attended by a candidate for a job to influence the interview board.
Relating to the procedure of the entrance examination, the aspirants have to follow a different mode to be successful in such a competitive testing procedure.
However, the CBSE Board is not putting successful candidates under that much stress in evaluating the performance of a candidate. A certificate of merit in each subject will stimulate the students to better performance in their upcoming examinations.

In the erstwhile system of announcing the toppers and publishing their details in the newspapers and internet, only a few got their names highlighted in the media. Of course, they evoked a great attention from the parents of other students who told their children to perform like those toppers. That is too much for asking as every student cannot be a topper.
In the new system there is nothing like that and it is only the merit and all the students in the merit band would be applauded by issuing the merit certificate to them. This is definitely a better proposition and would give recognition to more number of students and not merely the toppers.

    Knowledge is power.
