    What makes some people so popular in society or among friends?

    Human beings are gregarious by nature and enjoy the company of friends and colleagues. Some people have much fun during the gatherings and they look for such opportunities. There are some people who talk and behave frankly with others and are well known for their mixing in the crowd qualities. Functions, gatherings, festivals, etc are the great times when people get good opportunities to mix with others and have chit-chat and exchange information and ideas. Some gossip mongers look for these opportunities for spreading gossips of all kinds.
    During these interactions some people become popular in society or among friends. Have you come across such people? What in your view are the qualities of these persons that they become so popular? Please share your observations.

    There may be different reasons for a person to be popular. A student who gets first rank will be popular in his class in his school. An employee who contributes well to the company and shows a lot of interest towards the welfare of the company may become popular in his organisation. A doctor who treats well all his patients will be famous in his area. A teacher who teaches well will be famous in his school. Like this, the popularity will come from their contributions. A good politician will be very famous and a bad politician may be notorious.
    When we are in a gathering if we have a special look we will become the centre of attraction in that gathering. If we can talk well and attract people with our words and body language we will become popular in that gathering. A person who helps the needy may become popular in society. Our way of living and our approach towards others need will make us popular in this society.

    For becoming popular among friends and society one has to have certain qualities like good behavior, helping nature, good communication, and pleasant nature.
    No one tries to be friendly with a serious and reserved person. Everyone wants a happy and jovial company. So for being popular the most important thing is to create an atmosphere of ease and happiness around.
    Most of the people are gregarious by nature and always are in search of company. In such a situation if a person gives them good and cordial company then they would attract towards it and have friendly relations with that particular person.
    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

    My experience in this matter is that good behaviour, respectful approach, listening to others, and not expecting any favour are some of the things that make a person popular. Apart from that one thing that has become quite important in recent times is that many people want different information and help in various matters and people who happily provide it also become popular as their praise is spread from one person to other and people start asking them some crucial information and also tip or trick to do a thing.
    In our area one chartered accountant is there who entertains and happily answers various queries of the retired people while walking in the nearby park. He is very popular in our area.
    Knowledge is power.

    "Be simple in your life style. Be approachable and accessible to others. Be polite and courteous in your behaviour. Carefully listen to them and don't jump into conclusions without taking task of the situatioon and substantial material with you. Be brief in your communication and expressive. Speak less and do more."

    I have observed this strength of the most popular individuals whom I came across.
