Hearty congratulations to all the medal winners in this World Para Athletics Championship 2024, Kobe, Japan. It is very cheerful to hear that Indian athletes performed better than their performance in the same tournament last year. Ekta Bhyan, Kashish Lakra, Sumit, Sandeep, and Mariyappan Thangavelu showcased outstanding performances at the World Para Athletics Championships Kobe 2024. Their hard work and dedication paid off. They made India proud with their remarkable achievements. Their performances will inspire others and help them to come up with better shows in future.
Their success is an indication that differently challenged people can come out with attractive performances by overcoming the limitations they have. I think the Athletics Association of India will recognise their hard work and honour them for their performances. Great going. Keep it up!

Para Athletics Championships or Tournaments are a great platform providing the impaired persons an opportunity to showcase their proficiencies in the field of sports or athletics which are otherwise considered the domain of healthy and fit sports persons.
This time India has fared well in this annual championship and the Govt's thrust on sports sector might be a contributing cause in getting such a good performance. Good coaching facilities and encouragement to the sports persons is required for achieving such results.
These sports are conducted in various categories defined by the degree of impairment in the participant. This gives a level playing field to the participants and eases the process of selection.
These categories are represented with a code starting from T or RR or F.
For example - in Running and Jumping activities T11 to T13 mean that participants are having vision impairment, in Race Racing activities RR1 to RR3 mean that they have severe co-ordination impairment, in many activities F40 & F41 mean that they have short stature, and so on.
Congratulations to all the winners and wish more such medals in the coming championships and Paralympic events.

    Knowledge is power.
