Which movie still touches you even after repeated views?

Some movies made in a particular language are simply world-class, bringing tears to millions even decades after they hit the screens. One such Tamil movie, Nayagan, which was released in the early eighties, became a blockbuster that ran across Tamil Nadu over several hundreds of theatres.

Kamal Hassan, the highly talented hero, acted as a gangster. Though it was heavily influenced by the English movie Godfather, the director Maniratnam created an Indian touch and the audiences simply cried in all theatres, particularly in several scenes where the hero was seen in action with his son and daughter.

The film was based in Dharavi, said to be Asia's largest slum. It had all the realism of the underworld of Mumbai.

It was screened on a famous private channel today. My memories went back to the days when I saw it thrice in three different theatres in different cities, as a bachelor.

Have you seen this movie? Is there any movie that touches you even after repeated views?

I have not seen the movie mentioned by the author in the thread.
I have seen many Telugu movies and some are good and watch them even today if a chance comes. There is a channel named Etv Cinema. On this channel, many old films are screened and I used to watch this channel.
NTRama Rao is very famous and his roles in mythological films. Lava Kusa is one such picture which was released in the early 1960s, I remember. Those days all movies were black and white only. This is the first colour Telugu movie produced in Geva colour. The movie created records in the Telugu film industry. It is the first Telugu movie screened for a year continuously in a theatre. The story is Uttara Ramayanam. Birth of twin sons to SIta in the Ashram of Valmiki in the forest. The names of these twins are Lava and Kusa. Recently the movie was released and I watched the same again. NTR'as Rama and Anjali Devi as Sita are best suited and make this movie immortal. After watching this movie only I became a big admirer of NTR.

There are many Hindi films that are my favourite and I still remember their stories and cinematic presentations.
One of the movie that impressed me much is Guide directed by Vijay Anand. The main roles in this film were performed by Devanand and Waheeda Rahman.

The story of film is very impressive and the acting of the artists is also equally brilliant.

In brief the story is about a tourist guide Raju who starts helping a tourist lady to learn dance and develops relationship with her. Knowing this the lady's husband returned home leaving the lady there itself. Raju started earning from the dances of the lady and even did forgery to grab her money. Raju was jailed for two years. After his release from jail Raju did not go to his house but was wandering here and there and was mistakenly assumed to be a saint by some villagers who requested him to live in their village temple.
Once he was considered a saint people started coming to him for blessings. There were no rains that year and people approached him to pray God for it. Knowing well that he was not a saint, Raju reluctantly accepted the proposal and started prayers. On the eleventh day while making prayers he saw that it started raining. Raju was shocked and collapsed on the ground.

The story has many moral lessons and depicts a journey of a person from materialistic world to spiritual attainment.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

Some movies leave a everlasting effect on our minds. It is said that a combination of plot, cinematography, direction, and acting of the artists play a big role not only in the commercial success of the film but also touch the sentiments of people in a right way. Good film making is an art and there have been a good number of them in various languages. Nowadays due to subtitles and dubbing technologies we can watch a other languages film also conveniently.
I have seen many good movies especially in Hindi and English and a few in other languages having subtitles. Some Korean pictures are really superb to touch us sentimentally.
Some of the Hindi films that I liked much and have seen are Anand, Andhi, Phool aur Patthar, Rajnigandha, etc. Further some English movie that impressed me are Vertigo, Rebecca, Rear Window, Roman Holiday, etc. Particularly I liked the movies made by Alfred Hitchcock.

    Knowledge is power.

There are many movies in Tamil but one among them I repeatedly watch whenever telecasted on television is 'Ethiroli' (means Echo) acted by Shivaji Ganesan. In that movie Shivaji Ganesan acted as a lawyer with principles. On one some occasion he slipped himself from the principle and faced more problems. The scenes of court arguments in that film is very interesting.
