Please clear my problem on WhatsApp backup

A few days ago I asked for members' help for suggesting the optimum choice on the new phone I intended to buy. I have now bought the previous model phone going by the majority opinion members gave me in this thread.

Now I need to transfer my WhatsApp to the new phone. My doubt is about the backup in this regard.

The suggestions and methods available in the net are really confusing me. I am afraid what will happen if I go wrong. So I seek help from experienced members and tech savvy members.

    1. I tried the Google account back up(which I never did earlier). It asked for a Google account. I gave the google account I was using in the phone for installing apps etc. But when I put that and gave password it did not allow further saying it is already existing. But it was not detecting or showing that account in the chat backup page and displaying google account not selected. Helplessly, I was compelled to give my another Gmail account for the backup.(which I was using for my daily needs) taking long time it showed a back up of about 1,8 GB. I saw it is there in the storage of google drive of that Gmail account.

2, I also transferred the file 'msgstore.db.crypt14' to the new phone by Bluetooth. But it is just 201 MB.

Now my question is have I done the back up correct? Can I install and operate WhatsApp in my new phone with the Gmail account back up or with the megastore file?

Why it is not detecting or backing up to the original google account? How can I change the newly added google account in the chat back up selection?

After logging in in the new phone (phone number same) will there be any WhatsApp messages left in the old phone? Or will there be any chat history file there? If needed how to retrieve them?

Please give the answers and solutions for my problem.

I have not done it but the process that I could understood is as follows. Please note that this process is for Android phone only. Hope this might be helpful.

Open WhatsApp. On the top write click on 'three dots' or menu and click on 'more'. Click on 'Settings' then on 'Chats' then on 'Chat backup' and then on 'Back up'.

Meanwhile install WhatsApp on new phone. Sign in to WhatsApp with the same phone number as you used earlier on your old phone.

Now we have to restore WhatsApp data from backup. While restoring it will give two choices - To restore via WiFi or to restore via cloud. Click on the relevant.

    Some points to remember -
    1. If you have multiple Google Accounts, make sure you're signed in to the same account on your phones old as well new.
    2. If you have an updated cloud backup, restore 'via Cloud' is recommended.
    3. While installing WhatsApp in new phone the phone number to be given should be same as earlier it was given while installing it in the old phone.

Some users have complained that while using this process they got the chats but images were missing.

I request you to share your experience if you succeed in your efforts.

    Knowledge is power.

Once you transfer your SIM card to the new phone automatically all apps will get transferred. You have to log in to your WhatsApp account. Now regarding the backup. The following are the steps you have to follow. This procedure is for phones that are using Android.
WhatsApp backup should be carried out first on the old phone and then change the SIM card. Log in to your WhatsApp account using the phone number. Once the app is opened go to the chats page. You will find three dots vertically on the right-hand side top corner. click on that. A list will drop down. Click on Settings in that list. Your WhatsApp settings page will open up. On that page click on Chats. and then click on Chats Back up. On that page, you can make the settings as required. This is the procedure I followed on my 1 + phone.
Once you go and click on settings you will get an Idea of further steps.
