CSR activites should compulsorily include tree planting

Chennai has been reported to have the least trees among the metro cities of India. This is not good news at all. Unless we have a very vast tree cover, the city will continue to be under great pressure. It is already very hot in summer. Every new apartment complex should compulsorily plant at least two hundred trees in the complex and another similar number in the vicinity.

Better still, the huge industrial groups, both Indian and foreign, that are headquartered or have a big presence in Chennai, should be compelled to plant at least ten thousand trees each by using their CSR funds. Of course, they can take the help of school and college students to plant the trees and also take the help of local residents to water the plants till they grow into trees. Right now, only a few big traders are doing this job.

Similar initiatives should be made at all locations and cities. Once this is done, we can have more oxygen not only in Chennai, but also in other cities. Today, there are many who claim that Bangalore has lost thousands of trees in the name of development. This is very sad as well.

Refer to this thread and the responses therein. The author is once again advised to refer to the forum index and refresh his memory so as to avoid close repetitions. I am of the opinion that a thread on how to make tea and another one on should we add milk while making tea will have similar content and cannot be encouraged. The point may please be noted by others also.
