Let us pledge to protect the environment

We all require air, water and food to live. All are available to us from this nature. If there are no trees and no water, this earth will not be useful for making a living here. So as a human being, it is our responsibility to protect this environment so that we will pass on this environment to the next generations in such a way that it is suitable for their living.

Today is the World Environment Day. On this World Environment Day let all of us pledge to protect the environment. We can plant trees, save water and avoid pollution. As responsible human beings, it is our minimum responsibility to plant at least one plant today. Avoid cutting trees as much as possible. By doing this we can protect the environment from further deterioration, I feel.

I wish all the members a happy World Environment Day.

On the occasion of World Environment Day (5th June), it is nice to wish each other a Happy World Environment Day. At the same time, it is also useful to develop an effective roadmap at individual level, family level and community level for the next one year to make the world environment little bit more suitable for the next generation.

It is the need of hour to all of us. Our total climate have gone intolerable in almost all parts of our country. Rooms of many houses found with so hot as seen in the kitchen/furnace. The reason may be one of our lethargic activities in the connection of environment pollution. In many places trees have been cut by considering their personal hindrance and by forgetting national environment.
Wasting water, spitting on public places, cutting trees etc. are to be avoided by our own self without accusing or pointing out others. If we, one, started to stop such things it will automatically correct others.
So, pledging is essential and more than that we have to keep protecting our pledge.

Are we serious about the environment? What are we doing together to protect the environment? If we look at our daily activities we will find there is a casual approach. This casual approach must be avoided if we are serious and concerned about pollution. We need to change our habit of wastage and must utilize everything properly. By doing so, I feel some amount of discipline can be enforced which in turn will help us in a big way to protect Mother Nature.

Maintaining and protecting the environment is the most important thing and is a matter which is to be taken on top priority by not only the Govt but by each and every citizen of the country.
There are many small actions that can do a lot in this regard only thing is that people should have a will and inclination in this direction.
In our housing society some of the residents were throwing the paper bags, plastic waste just like that in the stairs or ground floor and it looked very ugly and the servants engaged for cleaning work had inconvenience as they had to remove those waste material from time to time same day.
A group of the residents went to each flat and explained that we should not throw the dry garbage here and there and instead put it in a bin so that the cleaning person can collect it easily. In fact this dry garbage can be sold in the market and the cleaning person can get some small money.
This small lead made a big change as people got the point and cooperated. In the same way there are many things which can be kept in mind and we all can contribute for protection of environment.

Today I participated in the Environment Day programme and planted a tree sapling . I can say with pride that we are doing it every year in our organisation and the trees planted in the last few years are nurtured and have grown and started flowering and fruiting. They also give shades under them giving some col feel during summer.

Happy environment day to everyone. Yes, protecting environment is a necessity today and every sapling planted matters. Trees are the only ways to maintain proper oxygen levels in the air that we breath day and night.
Nature is very kind to the human beings. Even after we destroy and abuse, it tries to protect us. It gives us all the chances and opportunity to correct it before any man made catastrophe happens. Species do not extinct so easily as nature gives them enough time to adjust, correct, and survive.
We must thank nature for that kindness to living beings and reciprocate by maintaining and protecting it.
Some steps and areas which can help in this matter are -
    1. Increased use of electric vehicles.
    2. Treatment of industrial pollutants.
    3. More and more garbage recycling.
    4. Increasing environment awareness in citizens especially children.
    5. Segregation of waste material at the house level.
    6. Revamping of operations of Municipal bodies.
    7. Generate employment opportunities in waste management.
    8. Do not convert green areas in the cities and towns to concrete buildings.
    9. Over and above the official cleanliness drive, community groups for doing it and motivating others are to be formed in every residential area.
    10. Avoid burning of dry waste.

    Knowledge is power.

At the outskirts of our town there are some hills which extend in a North-easterly direction. Many people go there in the morning for taking walks and some of them even climb up the hills. I am also going there sometimes. I saw a group of 3-4 people who are regularly planting trees in that area. Once we interacted with them and found that they were all retired people and were coming there to pass their time in a constructive way by planting various trees and then watering them.
Some local village people have provided them a water tank and fill it with water from time to time. By watering the plants regularly this area is now full of trees and has become an attractive place for visitors.
They told us that they were doing this for last 7-8 years and had planted more than 1200 trees.
This is a great effort by these seniors and people should follow such models everywhere. A small effort by everyone can make a big positive difference for environment.

When I was working in a factory as the in charge we used to celebrate the same in a great way. We used to invite VIPs around the factory and get the plantation done by them. All those plants have grown into big trees and now the whole factory area looks like a forest and we will not feel summer heat in that area. The total area is about 130 acres. We dug a pond and saw that all rainwater outlets would get into that pond. Now that is a very big pond and the ground water levels increased. Now I came out from that organisation but I made it a point that I should plant at least one plant on 5th June.
