We live in the environment and we have to keep it safe.

I didn't plant a tree today. But definitely saved a lot of trees by saying "No to tissue papers". A tree is sacrificed to make a paper it's just one time use which takes years together to grow. We simply wipe it and throw it off. My heart breaks when someone does it. I simply use small amount of water to wash my hands as making one tissue paper infact takes more water than it is required to wash your hands. Energy is burnt that leaves carbon footprints. We are living in the environment and we have to keep it safe for the next generation. If not planting a tree, atleast save it just by taking one small step. Just say no to "Tissue papers". It's not about just one day. Practice in real life and save the earth.

Generally, I carry a pocket cloth (handkerchief) with me and use it for cleaning my hands after washing them with water. I avoid using tissue paper. What the other told me is correct. We have to reduce the usage of paper. We have to stop taking hard copies of documents and we should keep soft copies and use them. Purchasing a newspaper printed should also be stopped and see the digital version of the same.
I suggest even in hotels, management should stop giving tissues but give napkins so that the same can be used by the customers. But they have to maintain them neatly and properly. This will help in reducing the usage of tissue paper and reduce a lot of waste.
A good advice from the author and we all should follow the same. Conserving water and saving trees are the two important issues to save the environment.

A good thought by the author. We must take steps to strengthen the environment. Recently I attended a big religious gathering where we undertook some Hindu rituals. There was a big crowd but the organisers maintained it very nicely avoiding any disorder or stampede.
For the devotees and visitors food was also arranged in four different canteens located at the four corners of the ground where the function was held.
When we went to a canteen to take food we found that they gave us disposable plates made by waste and leaves generated from banana and coconut and some other trees. We also saw thousands of such plates stacked on one side of the canteen.
We were surprised to see that in our country we have agencies which can supply such biodegradable disposable plates in such a large quantity. It was a very satisfying sight to find that organisers took so much concern for the environment.
There are many ways in which we all can contribute. Only thing is we should have a will and inclination for that.

    Knowledge is power.

In the period of 1970's, Madurai city has city buses run by TVS Motor Service. They are meant for time punctuality as many people adjusted their watches by seeing the bus. All buses were with good Aluminium body. At the rear entrance there was a box in all buses. people travelling in the buses used to put their bus tickets into that box through a hole meant for that as found in post boxes. This made public not to put used tickets in outside or road so as to keep our environment clean. In nights the same TVS authorities run a van with a huge magnet underneath in all roads of the city so as to grab all unwanted or fallen iron particles. This is one way we can take that they did for the benefit of their buses but the original idea behind that was to keep city clean.
Similarly effort should be made from our side also to keep our environment clean without waiting for Government body to do so.

Nature is so kind to us and given us so many resources like water, wood, air, edible plants, etc and it is imperative that we have to consume them properly and should not waste these precious things. We should not pollute the air with industrial gases and pollutants. Clean air is required for healthy lives and if we degrade it then we only will suffer.
Water is a precious commodity. We must conserve it. River, spring, pond, and underground water are the sources of this great gift of nature to us and wasting water is a big mistake and affect us in a long run.
Conserving natural resources and using them sparingly is the need of the hour.
Citizens can do a great amount of efforts in this direction by using common sense and respecting the natural resources.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.
