Do you believe in astrologers or fortune tellers?

Many people are interested in knowing about their future. They even go to fortune tellers or astrologers for that. How much authentic these astrologers are is a matter of discussion and debate but many people believe in their predictions.
Scientists do not see any possibility of predicting the future. As per them future is an uncertain territory.
Do you believe the fortune tellers who predict the future events in general and our future in particular? What are your views about them? How they tell our future? Have you ever compared the actual events vis-a-vis predictions? Please share your thoughts on this matter.

I don't have an answer to this question because if you believe in God then you must have some sort of trust in astrologers. People might say they don't believe in them just to showoff but they will always watch their horoscopes daily. I have encountered many relatives during my lifetime who were under serious problems because of their health and even doctors have given up. They had faith in God and kept on visiting religious shrines across the country and now they are perfectly fine. It's the faith that works and there is no evidence or proof available.
    Thanks and regards.

I don't believe in astrologers or fortune-tellers. I never go to them. I don't show my palms to any non-professional fortune-tellers either. This is because I know that these people make another person mentally weak. Needless tomention, I don't wear any stones to change my fortune.

I never consult an astrologer for the prediction of my fate. I am satisfied with my earnings of interest from my fixed deposits locked in the banks. I have taken it for granted that the astrologer cannot do anything better in terms of my financial gain since the interest paid to me would remain static despite the spiral of essential commodities.
With the progress of time, money will further devalue and in that situation, managing my future expenditures will depend on the help of my close relatives say my daughters and son -in -laws. However, it is my assumption this might be true or otherwise.

Astrology is also a science. There is a logic and there is a theory behind it. But only people who understand this concept thoroughly can read your astrological birth chart and tell you the predictions. I believe in this astrology but I will go to such astrologers whom I consider masters in the subject. There are many books written on this subject and one should read and understand the subject well then only correct predictions will come.
The accuracy of the predictions depends more on the birth time. If there is a mistake in the birth time, predictions may go wrong. But the predictions that are being published in daily newspapers and other magazines are very general and we should not believe them. Go to a good astrologer with the correct time of birth and place of birth. He will write your chart and tell you the predictions.
One should remember that we should do our best always to be successful. Depending on the astrological predictions, if we go away from our duties and hard work thinking that some miracle will happen, we will be the losers.

Astrology is a science of prediction. Future, as we all know is uncertain and not known. So any science or method that is used to predict it would be successful only to a statistical extent. Any other method of prediction would be like that. Palmistry is just one example. Then there is one called tarot cards.
Believing in it is the prerogative of the individual and many people across the globe have faith in such methods. To some extent it is inherited in one's culture also and anything of that nature remains in ones live forever.
In many religions or say in almost all it is mentioned that if we pray God with faith and sincerety then the almighty listens to it and helps us. That is a matter of great faith and if we believe in it then only it would appear helping us. Whether it really helps us is again a statistical result that to some it does but to some not. The point is that any method that yields statistical result is not based on pure science and logic and it is more a matter of faith and belief. One has a choice to believe in it or not. In our or in any other society believers are seen with much respect as compared to non believers.

From the responses of the members I now understand that there are varied opinions about Astrology or fortune telling methodologies and there is no way to ascertain their efficacies. The predictions can come true or not that itself is not certain.
I have some faith in these things may be because during my growing up I saw my parents following these things and they strongly believed in it.
People give many logics for not believing in these things but when it is a matter of faith how can we discard or dismiss it.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.
