Share your experience about Electric Scooter

Electric scooters are becoming common on the roads and are replacing the petrol fuelled ones. These are coming in various models depending upon the battery strength and other features. The manufacturers of these scooters claim a range of about 100-190 km before the battery would need a fresh charge. These scooters can go upto a top speed of 80-120 km. The price of this scooter ranges from Rs 90000 to 150000. Further, Electric scooter does not pollute the environment unlike it's petrol counterpart.
What is your experience about this scooter? Have you got one with you or bought for your children? Please share your experience or from what you hear about it from friends and relatives.

I have seen many people using electric scooters in our town and some of my friends (working ladies) have it. They told me that it was very convenient to drive and in all the adjacent towns the agency has a shop where charging outlets are provided and in case the battery goes down one can charge it there itself and then come back to house. It can also be charged in the house with mains power. If used only in the town then charging would be required only after 2-3 days.
The hi end model has a digital screen where free Map app is provided and the person driving can take help of that map for going from one place to another as we do using Google Map in our mobile phones.
It seems to be a good two wheeler for commuting regularly from one place to another.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

These days we are seeing an increase in the number of electric vehicles on the road. We can identify them with the different colour number plates assigned to them. It is a welcome change and it will improve the environmental quality.
My son purchased an electric two-wheeler two years back, He stays in Bangalore with his family. They use this vehicle for short-distance travel within the city. The performance of the vehicle is good and in his apartment, he had a pug point to charge the battery. During the night the battery will get charged and it will be ready for use in the daytime. They can use the battery for about 80 Kms within the city, For long-distance travel and commuting to office he uses his car.
Many of my relatives and friends are using electric vehicles and in general, there are no complaints. But in some apartments, there is a problem with charging points and a proper system is to be evolved for this. There is n problem in stand-alone apartments. But in some gatted community apartments some are facing charging points problems I heard.

Dr Rao, you are right. In some housing societies they are not allowing common point for charging the scooters as there is apprehension about electric problem especially when more and more vehicles are charged from the same point. There are issues of electric bill increase also. The problem is more for electric cars and the owners have to go to agency for charging it.
Some time back I heard about battery exchange points in the city at various places like petrol pump so that the battery can be exchanged quickly by paying an amount but that seems to be a difficult proposition as that sort of thing is still not in sight.
The electric vehicle segment is growing very fast and I hope more facilities in this regard will be there in future.

    Knowledge is power.

Commutation with electric scooters in urban areas in our country has been a revolution as a sustainable mode of commutation on the roads. I think electric scooters have gained popularity since it is ecofriendly, and an alternative to vehicles that run on fuels like petrol, the price of which is skyrocketing.

My son has recently bought a TVS electric scooter, which is affordable and convenient to ride through our Chennai city roads. Ride through this electric scooter is pollution-free from noise and carbon emissions. I indeed like to ride with this electric scooter and the ride is smooth. He has a separate charging point in his flat. Hence there are no charging issues.

In my opinion, the government should encourage consumers to buy these electric vehicles to save our planet by fixing the rates at affordable cost. Charging stations should be set up on the main arterial roads and highways for easy transportation.

This new type of experimentation has been quite successful and many more companies are joining to enhance the production of scooters of electrical brands. Most consumers want to have scooters of battery-operated modes However, to make such brands popular, we need to have changing stations at different locations to facilitate such a facility.
Since it is relatively a new experiment hence we need to evaluate the life of the battery and the source of charging at convenient points to make driving smooth.
