NASA (USA) will have more options for space related service providers

SpaceX was the first private company in US to provide services to send astronauts in a spacecraft to the International Space Station.
To have redundancy in this area, NASA invited Boeing company for the same service. Boeing did many efforts in this direction and after many teething troubles finally succeeded in sending astronauts to International Space Station.
On 6th June, 2024, for the first time, Boeing's Starliner capsule with two-member NASA crew (Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams) safely docked with the International Space Station. It took nearly 27 hours following its launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
These astronauts will remain in the station for about eight days, then return in Starliner and will have a parachute and airbag-assisted landing in the U.S. Desert.
This is going to bring healthy competition between Boeing and SpaceX. NASA will also have more options to get the service.

Yes, it is true. More and more companies from the private sector will be coming to compete in the space field. It is a good sign. The number of jobs will increase. Many people can work in the space research. NASA will also have more options and because of the healthy competition, we may see a reduction in the expenses for NASA to get private services. In the coming days, we will see many companies coming into this area.
In India also ISRO is encouraging private partnerships. Already many private organisations are participating in space activities. ISRO is outsourcing many works in their labs itself. So in India also we will see many organisations showing interest in space research.
Already some companies in India made some satellites and the same are launched from SHAR successfully. So in the coming days across the world, many other countries may also encourage companies to come into this area of work.

International Space Station is a low orbit station revolving around the earth and has been used as a space research station by NASA.
It was put in orbit in the year 1998 and is only at a distance of about 408 km from the Earth surface. From the comparison with distances encountered in space it is very near to Earth. It has completed 25 years in that position.
The recent docking of Boeing capsule alongwith two astronauts as mentioned in the above post is a great achievement by Boeing and is opening scope of more such services to be delivered by it to NASA or any space agency in the world.
Incidentally Sunita Williams is an Indian origin person.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.
