Kindly approve texts totally written in own words

A recent thread of mine, centered around Johari Window has been locked for new responses. I am really shocked.

I sought to explain in some detail, the basics of the concept in very simple words. I have been trained in this concept for over three decades and I have handled hundreds of sessions as a trainer. The basics will always remain the same, irrespective of who writes about it. Johari Window, in applied behavioral sciences, also called as Organizational Behavior, is open knowledge. I can be accused of plagiarism only if copy something from a book or from some published text. Thus far, in my 600 odd articles or in my threads, I have not copied a single word from anywhere, as I am damn sure that I can explain the concept with too many examples, based on my experience. In certain cases, I prefer common examples, though I can quote numerous official examples as well. Even in my own experiences, I do not even mention location and so on.

I do hope my future threads on any concept will be respected and kept open for views from members.

Johari Window is a very well-known concept in management. I also read it in my MBA days. The author, as an experienced management professional/teacher, can easily explain the concept in his own language. It is quite natural.

However, it is possible that an ISC Editor thought that the concept is copied from somewhere else. Most probably, he/she searched the keywords 'Johari Window' and found similar sentences, terms, etc. So, the Editor has deleted/locked the valuable post.

Earlier, I had also faced similar treatment when I tried to raise posts/essays on well-known concepts or theories. So, I have completely stopped to make such effort on this (ISC) platform.

    AB Sivakumar,

We are checking this out and will revert. Note that as per editing guidelines, with the slightest doubt, a forum editor can temporarily lock a thread to consult the team and decide on it.

In all the reputed sites if there is evidence of copying the content from some other place to it or using AI to generate the same then the site editors/moderators generally lock that content and keep under suspension or even delete it. Sometimes the content might be resembling with other content to a good degree but is actually not copied but allowing it or not would depend on the judgement of the editor/moderator.
While submitting our content we should be cautious to that extent and it would be better to keep the above aspects in our minds.
Recently I wrote a sports article for a reputed site and it is published but not in the featured category which is the top category in that site. I was told that as there were some spammy elements and grammatical errors in that article so it was not conforming to the top category. They have advised me to edit it and improve it further.

    Knowledge is power.

Writing with our own words should be our topmost priority. However, we might come under a situation where our write-ups resemble other texts sometimes creating an impression that it is copied-down content.
If we are honest in our approach, we should not show any inferiority complex in the process of our writing. We should proceed fearlessly if our effort is honest.

Sivakumar, the thread has been approved now and is open for discussion. The reason for shifting your thread to pending has been mentioned in the response therein. With due respect to your experience and very well knowing that 2+2 will always be four, please note that descriptions can change so that it does not appear anywhere else with the same words or sentences.

Partha, let me reiterate that editors here are not guided by personal perceptions or thoughts. We do (do) check before taking decisions.

"Partha, let me reiterate that editors here are not guided by personal perceptions or thoughts. We do (do) check before taking decisions."-----------Respected Sir, I humbly submit that I do know that you do check the submissions, especially the submissions from 'blacklisted' member like PK. But due to extremely limited knowledge of the Editors on various subjects, the stringent checking does not generally help. Many good topics are shunted out, just like the present one (being discussed here).

These days we are giving some freedom to members. Very rarely threads are being deleted. Even some topics which are repetitive also are not deleted. I thank the editors for the same. As far as my knowledge goes, if the content is not original and copied from elsewhere will not be allowed on this site and deletion may be mainly due to that only. Some of the threads are being edited and approved.

Partha, I understand that it is not right and is against ISC policies, but I am forced to respond to your mention about the 'extremely limited knowledge' of editors. To place you in the correct square, I don't think any editor, including the ME or the WM has ever claimed that we are extremely knowledgeable. We do check and cross check and consult each other (available editors) before taking a decision. I totally agree that we may not be as educated or informed as many of you (like PK) members are but (but) we go by the guidelines and seldom go wrong while doing the job. And the most important point is that we are open to corrections without any inhibitions. We will 'shunt out' any topic once we confirm that it is against the site's policies. That is the point that needs to be noted.

Saji Sir, as usual I am misunderstood. I wanted to mean that every Editor can't have complete knowledge of every subject. In that case, what will the Editor do? He/She will check the keywords (like Johari Window) and if he/she finds similar terms/words again and again, he/she will lock the thread.

But this approach is not always correct. This is what I meant to say.

(Long ago, PK wrote an article mathematically proving 2 = 1. This was written in a lighter vein for young children and was written as a classroom conversation with a detailed explanation of infinity. Most probably, an Editor checked the keywords like 'How do you prove 2=1?' and developed a doubt on PK's ability to write on such a concept. So, he/she deleted the entire article.)

Partha, no! You are not misunderstood. Indeed, you are understood. Please do take note.
