An interesting post by the author. In my view we can divide the various knowledge subjects under two broad categories - first is which can be categorised under science and second is which are based on the knowledge of the ancient scholars in various countries.
Under the first category we have subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Geography, Astronomy/Astrophysics, Medical Science, etc while under the second category we have subjects like Palmistry, Astrology, Tarot cards, Vastu Shastra, Horoscope, Homeopathy etc.
The above two categories are distinct in many ways and while the first is based on scientific principles and data, the second is based on some statistical analysis.
The science based analysis can be taken as authentic or can be taken as successful to a high degree of percentage something like 90-95% while the results of using the second category knowledge is successful only to a degree of 50-60% and that is a statistical figure.
By statistical I mean that in general the result of believing in anything can generally be positive to a degree of 50-60% and that type of result is statistically obtainable even otherwise without having faith in anything.
Knowledge is power.

Vaastu Shastra is a knowledge that we inherit from our ancient generations. In Indian culture and traditions it has been a major thing observed by the people.
Our ancient scholars might had done studies and research about this subject and came out with some directions. Many people believe in it and can mention the perceived advantage of following that doctrine.
As it is a matter of faith it is not a compulsion for people to believe in it. There are many areas like that in the world where a choice of having belief and faith is open to us. People have faith in something because of a perception about that and we cannot challenge it just like that citing scientific principles.
I have faith in our culture, religion, God, and many such things including Vaastu Shastra which are a great support to us in our lives.

Human beings always look for comfort. Building a house is once in a lifetime activity and one should spend the entire life in the building constructed by the individual. So everyone will look for a comfortable stay in the house. Keeping this fact in mind some general rules were framed by ancient people and made it Vastu Sastra. I feel it is better to follow this Sastra when we are constructing a house.
But these days we are seeing many vastu pandits and each of them will come out their theory. They try to exploit the innocence or beliefs of some people. One of the vastu pandits was telling me that he would see my house and tell me which place was better for each piece of furniture. Then I told him that I took the advice of a vastu pandit and went ahead and completed my house construction and all furniture etc we have is already arranged by my wife as per her requirement and comfort. I have been living in the same house for the last 20 years. I refused his offer politely.
As mentioned by the author we should design our house following Vastu and we should also have a Tulasi plant in our house. But we should not get exploited by commercial vastu pandits. It is always better to go to a genuine Vastu pandit and get advice and construct as per him.

Vastu shastra may be true but I don't know the shastras said by pandit is true. Because I still believe no sastra which definitely says about the bathroom and it's direction in house especially inside.
Ancient times the bathrooms which were very distant from home and most of the kitchen have grounded slabs no sink.
Vastu shastra definitely not says about fridge or about any electrical equipment and their placements but pandits saying more rules and rituals. I think this is a kind of profession.
I too believe in God and about vastu shastra but not says by everyone.

Vastu Sastra is a way of arranging the entire home as per the directive of a Pandit. He would direct and guide his disciple to follow his instructions so that the owner remains safe. Any violation of his instruction would mean that the bad soul can harm the family - members.
We might take his instructions seriously and take the remedial steps as per his advice. Lastly, we need to make a payment according to his demand.
The planning of the building was made by architecture and the entire set-up of windows and doors were fixed according to his plan. However, some pandits might put an objection on some fittings directing us to take some corrective action.
It amounts to heavy wastage of money if some amendments are effected. Not necessarily, we should always be guided by the vastu sastra specialist..

Thamaraiselvi #780381 has observed the issue in a rational and analytical way. I will add my experience in this regard.
When I was transferred from Assam State to Tamilnadu during my active service I requested my colleagues in Tamilnadu to fix a house for me so that I could straight go there and live in that house. My colleagues told me about a few houses that were available but every house had some problem like lack of sunshine, water scarcity, Vaastu issue, far from my office, etc. I told them any house would do but it should not be very far from the office. They got one but the flat number was 13, a number considered unlucky by many around the globe. Some people felt that it would be better to avoid that.
Anyway, as I was not having any notion like that I went for it and stayed there for 5 years. During that 5 years I had no problems and life was very smooth from all the angles. I was also told that the particular house was vacant for a few months as many avoided it because of that number.
So believing in certain things of faith is entirely a personal choice and no one knows what is the truth behind these things.

The feeling that not observing vastu sastra and other directives of our astrologers will lead to our downfall in terms of our prosperity. Such confusion is so deeply rooted in our minds that it barely goes from our mindset.
Umesh Sir has rightly projected that so much fear is associated with this number that any day starting with this number is not an auspices day to start any new project or work since we may not be successful ultimately.
Nothing happened like that in the case of Umesh Sir since he did not believe in such superstitions. There are many such statements we have heard from our childhood that crossing a black cat while we are moving that path might be a dangerous decision for us., initially I was afraid but later I managed to come out from such a situation,

My point is not whether we should believe in vastu shastra or not but whether it would be possible in today's scenario to build a house adhering to all the so called vaastu principles. At a time when there is shortage of land in the urban areas and even in some rural areas and people are left with no choice but to build a house in the available land, I doubt whether it would be practical to ensure that it is done according to vaastu. And what about flats and apartments? Though the builders claim, most of the time, that it has been built following the vaastu, I don't think it would be possible to do so. Basically, it is the attitude, characteristics and the basic values of each member in the house that makes it a home and leads to happiness and prosperity. So, don't fall into the hands of these so-called experts and believe in yourself.

All said and done, the essence is we must not believe anything that ancient Indians developed. We must not follow these.

I've always found Vastu Shastra to be a fascinating subject. Growing up in a household that respected traditional beliefs, I was introduced to the principles of Vastu at a young age. I believe that Vastu Shastra, much like many other ancient practices, offers valuable insights into creating harmonious living spaces.
While some may view it skeptically, I think there's something to be said about the impact of our environment on our well-being. I've personally noticed a positive change in the energy of my home after making small adjustments based on Vastu principles, like repositioning furniture or incorporating certain elements.
Ultimately, I believe it's about what resonates with you. Whether it's Vastu Shastra or Vedic astrology, these practices can offer guidance and a deeper connection to our surroundings and ourselves.

Shreya Singh #780511 has explained it in a spiritual manner and yes if a person has faith in it and adopts it for positivity in life there is nothing wrong in it.
I have another thought on this. People may believe or not in Vastu Shastra but there are certain things which are very scientific in their nature. For example an East facing house will get the morning sun rays which is a positive thing. A garden in the front will always be much more attractive for family members sitting on the front balcony. So the point is that placement of different things in a house as well as alignment of the house itself are some basic things that can bring positivity in our lives and probably the whole idea behind Vastu Shastra is that only.

I am a strong believer of Vastu Shastra because I have faced something, which is beyond any explanation. I think it is better to avoid places where you feel anything negative. It is always good to stay away from places like Cemetery (Kabristan). My family once lived near such places and we faced many accidents. Not only our family but also our neighbour faced such situations many times. We consulted a vastu expert and they asked us to relocate to other place because there is a cemetery in front. It was a colony created by Britishers and cemetery was also for Christian people. We left that place and everything became fine after relocation. So, I think we can't deny the fact that such things exist, but we don't have any explanation.

Neeru- a West-facing home also gets the sun's rays when it is setting.
Also, why should we believe that only the sun's rays, or the specific direction of each room's furniture will bring in positivity? Shouldn't positivity be in our minds? Why should we think negatively that, if, for example, the kitchen is facing a certain direction, that is harmful?
We also often hear about the placement of the puja room/the Gods' idol. Is it necessary that it should be only in an east-facing direction as advised by some? Shouldn't our faith in God be sufficient rather than thinking of the physical placement of the idols or photos in our home? Will it really be inauspicious if these idols face some other direction? Can somebody clarify the necessity of implementing Vastu in this case?
And I do have a money plant- one is now split into three independent ones as the single one grew beautifully - because it so happens that is the only plant that grows well due to the general lack of sunlight and not because of any Vastu principles. The other plant that I am able to grow is of curry leaves.
