The other side is always green - this a a big myth

There are people in this world who think that there is something better on the other side of the fence. This never happens, and in most cases, it is not true at all.

For example, there is a tendency to simply quit a particular organization, just because the boss is a horrible character. The person soon realizes that the boss in the new organization is even worse than the previous boss!! The wisest thing to do is to pick up a new skill set and then join another organization where this skill set can be put to best use. For example, an HR middle manager acquired a Diploma in Psychometric testing and went on to practice this well in the new organization. He soon became an expert in the field and enjoyed his job at all times.

The other side can be green, provided we plan for it. It is not always true, as a matter of course.

Other side may be green or not but the human psychology is such that everyone is dissatisfied with one's present status and feels that other people are in better places earning more money and getting more successes in their lives. Due to this false perception people take wrong decisions and many times swap a job just to find that the new one was worse than the old.
I agree with the idea mentioned in the post by author that it is wise to acquire some new skills or one should already have those skills before switching to a new job.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

What the author said is one school of thought. There is another school of thought which says a known devil is better than an unknown ghost. Some people will not show much interest in shifting their jobs and the explanation they give is that this.
As mentioned by Neeru Bhatt, many feel that the curry in the neighbour's house is tastier than our curry. After working for some time in an organisation, many people think that they should shift their loyalties so that there will be a jump in their income. That is true to some extent. But it all depends on how one will adjust to the new environment and how they perform.
As mentioned by the author, one should see whether they have the skills required to manage well in the new role and if necessary they should go ahead and acquire the required new skills on time so that they will have a better time in the new organisation.

It is an interesting post and what I understand in this regard is that other side may appear green but actually it is not. What we perceive is not what it is.
Many people get carried away by something in the sight but when they reach it and experience then there is a big disappointment. It is always better not to believe that other side is green.
I personally have experience about one of my relatives who are well known for the pomp and show and show off in their lives by displaying the costly gadgets, throwing parties beyond their financial conditions, spending like kings, etc but in reality the person has taken lian from the banks for personal reasons and now he is not able to repay. So people seeing them from outside might think that they are very rich but in reality they are debt torn.
We will find the reality when we dig deeper. Just by seeing something from a distance and concluding that it is better has no meaning.

    Knowledge is power.

There is a saying in Telugu which means that hills when we see from a distance appear very smooth. But the actual condition will be known only when we go near and start climbing the same. The other side is always green is also a myth and unless otherwise, we go and see there we may not understand the actual position. So one should prepare for any eventuality before going to the other side thinking that is green.

Yes, for many people the other side is green and such a conception allows them to leave a job in their hands. However, it might happen even worse. The boss of the new organisation seems to be insensible not entertaining any plea for the betterment of the job.
He seems to be one-sided giving a clear-cut message that without fail, the target is to be achieved. There is no scope for deviation from the instruction already given to him.
The entire environment seems to be confusing. My sincere advice to all aspirants is to collect feedback from the boss of the new organisation before joining a new assignment. It will help them from an odd situation.

It's a human nature to see only positivity and that's why everything looks good from far distance. Everything has pros and cons and nobody is perfect. Even God didn't had a perfect life and they too had to struggle for their existence. We must thank God for whatever is given to us. Life is full of unexpected experiences and in pursuit of perfection one must not destroy his present. It may look like a perfect place but you never know what's there in the future.
    Thanks and regards.
