A humble request for shifting of the last date of ongoing contest - Q & A with support staff

During the last month, we had a good number of contests and many members participated in it. Some members missed the deadlines to submit their entries. We have recently witnessed a transformation from low activity to high activity in ISC, especially in the Forum and Article sections. As a member, I feel good about it and hope that more activity will happen in other sections also.

During the last few days, there has been a good increase in activity in the forum section and that indicates that there will be good participation in the running contest - Questions and answers with support staff ... '.

Having some apprehensions about the last date I thought to raise this post to request the Managing Editor to give at least 5-6 days more time to the prospective participants and shift the last date of submission to at least 16th midnight.

I know it is not a good thing to ask for shifting the last date of any contest and that also repeatedly as it reflects on the discipline and commitment but if other members also feel likewise then a decision for shifting it can be taken by the concerned Editor(s). Thanks in anticipation and sorry for the inconvenience.

    Umesh,

In the contest announcement, I made it clear that there would be no extension. Sufficient time was given to draft an entry for this contest, and no other ongoing contests exist, so there is no reason why members could not have started preparing for it early on. Last time the date was extended due to the active GD and MAPs.

Please understand that each time we extend the closing date, later planned contests, if any, will get pushed ahead, too. Hence, unless absolutely necessary for a valid reason, I think it is best to stick to the scheduled closing date.

Vandana, you are very right in what you mentioned in your response above. I fully agree and endorse that.
Interestingly, I am not asking the extension for myself. That may look a strange statement but in all probability I will be posting my response by 12th July. But my perception is, which could be wrong also, that there are many members who might contribute to this very interesting and specific contest but would not be able to submit their entry by the stipulated time. How about helping them in this particular instance?
I will not insist because that would be against decorum but again request you to shift the last date if at all feasible from your end.
As other members are silent on this issue I cannot talk on behalf of others but sometimes silence also conveys apprehensions!
Anyway, it is upto your good judgement to take a call on that. Thanking you in anticipation and sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    Umesh,

No need to be sorry. You are entitled to put forth a suggestion at any time. However, the closing date will remain as announced. It was announced on the 4th and kept open for eight days, that is, till today, with a deliberate decision to have a weekend in between for members who are working to get time to draft an entry. I don't think the level of difficulty for this contest is very high, and, as I stated, members could have started work on it early. So let's hope some more entries come in by tonight.
