A great gesture from Rahul Dravid

India won the cricket T20 World Cup by defeating South Africa in the finals. The whole nation celebrated the success. The players and the crew were facilitated by BCCI. In this connection, Rs 125 crores has been announced as a bonus to the team and the crew. All the players were given Rs 5 crores as a bonus and support staff got Rs 2.5 crores. BCCI as a special gesture announced another Rs 2.5 crore to the head coach, Rahul Dravid. Today I read in the newspapers that Dravid politely refused the extra bonus offered to him and wanted the same bonus money (Rs 2.5 crore) as the rest of his support staff.

Such persons are very rare these days and all will run for money. Saying no to such a huge money is really a good gesture and we should appreciate his sentiments. Hats off to him. He should be a role model to the youth of these days.

There are some people who showcase an example for others by showing their magnanimity in the matters of money and other things.
The gesture shown by Rahul Dravid is praiseworthy and deserves accolades.

Refusing an amount of 2.5 crore is not a small thing. It shows that the person has guts to say no to any additional monetary gain and even divert it to the support group.
A sportsman who can show this type of character deserves praise from all.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

Yes, I have also read this news and I genuinely appreciate the thought process and subsequent action by Rahul 'The Wall' Dravid. He remains one of my favourite cricketers and he has displayed his humanitarian side time and again.

I read a report that Captain Rohit Sharma also made a similar humble gesture, and before Dravid did so, requesting similar pay to the support staff of the winning T20I World Cup team and was willing to forgo some of his own monetary rewards to ensure parity for all.

Thus, thanks to their gestures, the batting, bowling and fielding coaches each got Rs.2.5 crore, while the rest of the support staff, including the physio, the strength & conditioning coaches, etc each received Rs.2 crore.

Rahul Dravid is one of the most humble cricketers we ever had. He is one of the true role model for budding cricketers. Even after achieving so much in life he remains so down to earth which is a commendable thing. Truly a great cricketer from our country who has made India proud several times.

You are very correct, Ajay Gupta, he deserves the title The Wall. He is the best test player I have seen so far. His performance in tests saved many tests. More than all, he is a great human being with concern for fellow human beings. He made India flag fly high by winning the T20 world cup at the fag end of his career as a coach.

Needless to say how kind-hearted is Rahul Dravid that he refused a sum of Rs 2.5 crore which he was awarded for his distinguished services. This reflects both his brilliant performance and a sense of caring for his staff. His sacrifice was in favour of bowling and fielding coaches.
Very few would take such a generous stand.
