One should keep always in mind that, " No one is above the law"

All are aware of the concept of the Rule of Law which means that no person is above the law. Every individual shall have to face the consequences for their wrongdoings irrespective of their position or rank.

But these days many politicians and bureaucrats are behaving as they like thinking that they are above the law. We are hearing or reading many reports in the newspapers in which the officers with support from the men in power are going against the law. There are some incidents where the state governments ignored the ruling of the court and acted as they liked, We are hearing about many scams etc.

Do these people forget the Rule of Law? They should remember that their position today is not permanent and one day they have to face the music for their misdeeds. What are your views on this subject?

A good post by the author. I fully endorse that no one is above law. Some people in high positions have a wrong notion that they can do whatever they want and they will be out of the clutches of law. Yes, time being because of their influence manipulate the things but they must remember that wrong doing will always get punished. The only thing is it may take some time for that.
There had been many cases where people in influential positions mis utilised their power only to find that later they got jailed for those offences.

Absolute power corrupts human beings and that's why we have judiciary to punish such people. The biggest problem is people running the system itself are human beings. How can corrupt human beings take impartial decision? The main problem today is the money that buys everything. I was once reading about a criminal MLA who got convicted in a murder case but he was enjoying his life even inside the jail. He bribed the whole jail system to get himself everything that he would like to have at his home. It was a mockery of the whole judicial system where even after getting convicted people are enjoying with the power of money. We must have a live surveillance system installed at each and every corner of the country to ensure that every citizen gets justice. A system is needed to keep an eye on everything or there will be no change at all.
    Thanks and regards.

If the corruption is not checked at the initial stage because for some reason or the other, the man committing such unlawful activity gets more encouragement to repeat offences very often. I am quoting an interesting case of an employee coming in his A shift just after two hours of the shift matching the beginning of the General Shift starting from 8 am. He became so habitual that it was difficult for him to relinquish that practice.
Whenever I made a query for such a late, he explained that the AGM (in charge of the department ) had entrusted him with a domestic job such as coaching his child or any other job assigned to him. The other employees took advantage of his late reporting and they followed the same trend.
I met the head of the section and explained my difficulty. He took the matter seriously and discontinued his illegal service. Later I noticed a remarkable change in the working atmosphere of the shift. There was no more late reporting in shifts.

A court of law is the ultimate to decide about the offence or crime committed by a person. People must understand that if they commit a mistake then law will eventually catch them.
It is unfortunate that there are some people who work in high positions, have influence on the government machinery and can get wrong things done by the subordinates by pressrising them. This is a corrupt practice because they are misusing their good offices.
If the judiciary acts in an unbiased manner then these people would eventually be caught by the law and would be punished.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

There is one more point in this respect that though law is supreme but we should enact the law in a clear way so that confusions and misinterpretations are minimised while implementing law.
It is seen that in a poorly framed law structure, criminals often escape from the clutches of law. It is imperative that law clauses should be firmly defined and should not have any ambiguity. This would debar the clever people and their lawyers to take shelter under the confusing law clauses and get scot free. It is imperative that law stipulations should be made in such a way as to impart unbiased and uniform justice.

    Knowledge is power.

That is true. The law should be clear and it should be enacted in such a way no innocent will be punished at the same time any person who did something wrong should not be left without punishment.

The author is perfectly correct. We all of us should however abide by the law based rules. In law itself there is a maxim 'ignorantia juris non execusat' which means no excuse for those do not know the basic law of their land.
We, many of us, evading or avoiding Law and the rules thereof in many situations knowingly or unknowingly. Simply speaking there is a rule for holding an identity proof while travelling in train with reserved tickets. Many of us do not holding any identity proof by assuming that the authority may not come for verification or may not demand the proof of Identity.
I have been mocked by many of my relatives that I am very strict in following such rules. One day an educated person in Vaigai Express Train got caught for not having proof of Identity with his reserved ticket. He was just arguing with the TTE that he know this person or that person etc., The TTE replied him in cool manner, 'Sir! Instead of calling this person or that person, what makes you to have your own identity card which is very slight one to carry?'. By telling this TTE made him to pay fine by showing the rule in the ticket itself.
If we do not honour our own law and rules else who can?
