Interview of an Archery coach by a local journalist TPK

Indian Archers have performed well in the international championships and have won gold medals from time to time in various events worldwide.
Archery is a sport of intense concentration and focus and a good player has to practice a lot for it.
A good coach can guide and motivate the participants in Archery competition and this is an interview of an Archery coach Ramanuj by a local journalist TPK.

TPK: Welcome Mr Ramanuj for this interview. How do you feel your responsibilities as an Archery coach?
Ramanuj: Thanks TPK for giving me this opportunity. The job of an Archery coach is very delicate as one has to guide the players for concentrating and focusing on the targets to achieve good scores. The player should have a strong physical stability as well as mental concentration to perform perfectly. In archery there is no place for even a slightest mistake. My role is to keep the player fully motivated and charged with winning thoughts at each and every strike. I have to apprise and teach them the technicalities of this sport and guide them to use the proper techniques for scoring high.

TPK: Are you satisfied with your job?
Ramanuj: I had earlier participated in many Archery competitions and I have good experience of this sport. When I was offered an opportunity to coach and guide the Indian Archery contingent then I took this assignment happily and it gives me much satisfaction when my players perform best in a championship.

TPK: What are your views about the future of Archery in India?
Ramanuj: I am highly positive about it. Our Indian players are dedicated and receptive to the suggestions of their coaches. They are performing consistently and I have full belief that their performance would further improve in future.

TPK thanked Ramanuj for the nice responses made to his queries and congratulated him for his success as a coach to the Indian Archers.

A very good interview! Archery not only needs very high concentration, but also required extremely modern and sophisticated equipment. In India, many promising players' career is nipped in the bud due to lack of modern equipment (in the sports-discipline of archery and shooting). Of late, the Government is paying attention to this aspect, and, as a result, the performance of Indian archers is improving. But, there are many miles to go.

An archery coach is also required to look after the maintenance of the instruments and equiment of his/her trainees. This is also part of the job of an archery coach.

A nicely conducted interview. Archery is a sport that requires very good concentration and focus on the game. Unless otherwise the person is focused his vision on the target he has to reach, he can't do the job properly. When Drona asked Arjuna before releasing his weapon to hit the eye of the bird, Arjuna replied that he was seeing only the eyeball of the bird on the tree but nothing else. Here the job of the coach is to work on the person and see that his concentration will not deviate from the target till he releases his arrow so that he will hit the target. The mentor should have skills as well as mental stability so that he/she can catch the best talent and train him/her to be successful in archery.

Archery is an interesting sport. I reiterate that it requires focus and concentration. Those who have these capabilities can become proficient in it.
It also reminds me the story of Eklavya who wanted to learn Archery from the Saint Dronacharya. When the saint refused him due to some reasons he did not get discouraged by that but kept a picture of the saint in front of him and took his blessings from the picture and practiced Archery. Due to his hard work with focus and concentration he learned Archery and became very proficient in it. To pay his respect to the Guru Dronacharya he approached him and told that it was only possible because of the blessings of the Guru Dronacharya.
The saint knew that he was physically not there but Eklavya did it because of his own efforts. Eklavya even wanted to repay the saint for his blessings. Dronacharya never wanted that Eklavya should become a better Archer than Arjuna and asked the thumb of Eklavya as his fees.
It is a sad story but the point is that if one wants to learn Archery one has to focus and concentrate like Eklavya.

    Knowledge is power.

Some Indian Archers are doing well in the international archery scenario. This sport is also getting popular in our country.
The Archery is not an ordinary sport as it requires precise accessories and equipments. Besides that it requires a good practice to achieve proficiency in it. A good Archer has to do hard work for a long time to come to that level.
The interview presented in this post has brought out some important aspects which are necessary for becoming a proficient Archer. Like all other sports there is a lot of competition in Archery also and it is obvious that one has to work hard if one wants to achieve proficiency of that level in this segment.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.
