Have you ever got trapped in a difficult place or a situation?

Sometimes we are forced to live in an isolated place where facilities are minimum or in a village which is not well developed. Some people face breakdown of their vehicle on a lonely road and are forced to stay in a small roadside house away from the town. There are many situations like that when one finds oneself trapped in difficult situation and has to manage within the limited resources. It is only when some aid arrives or problem is resolved that the person returns to his home.
Have you ever fallen trapped in such a situation? How did you manage? Can you share your experience of that?

I faced such a situation on a very important day in my life. I never shared this information with anybody. I went to the village of my in-laws for the first time to get introduced to my wife before the first time before finalisation of our marriage. We hired a taxi and I with my parents went to my in-laws' place. They received us very well and we had our breakfast there and we started back. So far everything went as planned. After coming for about 20 km our taxi had a problem and the driver tried his best but no use. Then he said that this car was to be pulled to a nearby town which is about 5 Kms and then it is to be repaired. Then I decided that we would hire another taxi and proceed and the taxi driver would get the car repaired. But that place was very remote and no taxis were available, Those days no mobiles also. Meanwhile, a tractor came and our taxi driver tied the car to the tractor and went for repair and came back after about an hour and we reached our place late in the afternoon.

Many people experience such situations in their lives and at that time it becomes very difficult to find the solution to those problems in time.
I had an experience that is still fresh in my mind and I will like to share it here. My hometown was in a hilly place. After my marriage once I wanted to visit my parents for a few days. As my husband did not get leave due to the work schedule in his office he suggested me to go alone and stay in my hometown for some days.
It was not a big deal as it was a day journey and the morning bus from our living place to my hometown took 8-9 hours to reach there.
I started my journey in a bus and after 3-4 hours we were told that there was an accident on the road and the traffic was jammed. To add insult to injury there was a landslide also about 4-5 km from the place we were stranded.
The passengers were advised to get down from the bus and go to the other side where the buses coming from opposit direction could go back and people could reach their homes.
Luckily I had a small bag with me so I could finally made to reach the place after crossing the landslide.
It was a chaos there as people were trying to grab the buses which were returning back and there was no system of alloting seats to us. Anyway I could manage to get a seat in one of the buses with the help of some other lady passengers. By that time it was already evening and we did not know that whether we would reach the hometown in time. That time generally night driving in that area was restricted but due to the rush of people stranded, the police allowed the buses by controlling the traffic.
Anyway, I could reach my home at 2:00 in the night instead of afternoon and it was a very difficult day.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

Yes, it has happened to me many times but a strange incident that could change my career occurred when I was a student of matriculation., The centre allotted to me was Bermo and I was living with my uncle in Bokaro Thermal. There was a break of three days during the commencement of the remaining paper. So, I thought to have a short vacation from my uncle's residence I came to Bokaro Thermal to enjoy a short vacation.
I started my journey for the next examination at 7:30 am in morning in the morning thinking that I would reach the examination centre comfortably since the distance between the two places was hardly 30 km. However, it was unfortunate on my part that the car hired got a breakdown in between. There was a great climax for me at that moment since it was getting 9 am and the examination was to start at 10 am.
However, a miracle happened when I saw my friend on the roadside. He was to approach the centre and I told him entire story. However, I managed the situation with the grace of God who took care of my needs in a right moment.

When we travel by bus at night, there is a practice that the bus will be stopped for tea or coffee once I was going to Mettur Dom in Tamilnadu to attend an interview at a company there. I started to travel there by bus from Chennai. This incident happened in the year 1987. The bus belongs to a private operator, It was about 11 PM and the bus was stopped near a Tea shop. I thought he stopped for tea. I don't know Tamil. So I signalled the driver that I was getting down for urine. He nodded his head. But within a minute, he started back. I came running but I could not catch the bus. My original certificates were in the suitcase and that was on the bus.
I was watching here and there. Meanwhile, one person came on the scooter. I told him the issue. Immediately he asked me to sit on his scooter and he drove the vehicle very fast. Luck was in my favour and the bus was on the road after going about a half kilometre as some lorry was stopped in the middle of the road. Immediately I thanked the scooterist and got onto the bus. I showed my anger on the driver but he could not understand either Hindi or English.

Very interesting responses are pouring in. Let me also share my experience regarding such incidents in our lives.
I was doing my PG in a hill town. The incident pertains to about 54 years back. As I felt disturbance in the college hostel I was living in a shared house with two other students and we were taking food in a nearby hotel or sometimes cooking ourselves using a kerosene stove or coal stove.
We used to store sufficient provision in the house so that if it rains or if snow falls then we could manage staying in house. Generally it rained or snowed only for 2-3 days and then we could go out.
During the long winter vacation most of the students left the town and went to their respective hometown.
That year my roommates left for their homes but I did not go as I was doing a part time job in the town. Everything was going on as usual and after 20-25 days it started to rain followed by snowfall. The intensity of snowfall and its duration was unprecedented and the stairs in front of our house were covered with a thick sheet of snow. I could not go out for next 10 days till the weather improved and snow melted.
I survived on the provision that I had in the house and as the kerosene was also finished I had to light the coal stove for making my food. Coal stove managing is itself a big stove.
That winter was very harsh and I was alone and somehow managed through that difficult time.

    Knowledge is power.

I cannot forget our trip to Beas via Chandigarh. We used to visit Beas every year in a particular month so that we did not face any difficulty over the weather. But one time without planning we proceeded to Beas after a casual visit to a known person in Chandigarh. We reached Beas Bus Station through Bus from Chandigarh by 7.00 pm. We did not feel bad in the bus stand area and went to our Satsang Center accommodation. After entering into the room allotted to us, my wife went to rest room for washing her hand and legs but suddenly she got cramped leg and fingers in hand as the cold water touches her body. Then only I heard from sewadhaar that the climate there was very low in temperature. He suggested to put water heater in the room and advised to show the hand and leg in the hot water. She then felt free. On the next day morning only we realize the lowest degree of temperature outside of our accommodation building. Immediately after the satsang was over, I went to Amritsar with my cobrother and bought hand gloves, sweater, finger type socks for both my wife and her sister. Though we went to Beas many times, this trip we never forget as got up in a different climate.
