    Regarding answer in knowledge centre

    Editor,
    Several times, I have noticed that when I write answer in knowledge centre then editor reject my answer saying that already information given. It is not a correct reason to reject answer. If topic is same, obviously information regarding location, eligibility, selection procedure would be same. At least, once you think before rejection. It is completely wrong to check answer procedure. I am fully Dissatisfied. Our work hard goes in vain. Kindly look into this matter.

    Recently same thing happened in my case. The thread is Is NEET required for admission to a BAMS course?. The reason given is " Information already provided". I have not raised any issue and I kept silent. Now this is an occasion to express my doubt, When I answered this item, I did not see the answer given by the other author.

    When detailed information has already been provided, it does not make sense to repeat the same and expect cash credits for it. What we would expect is information that is not in the text that is already submitted. It is somewhat like the details we give as update info for schools and colleges, that is, you are updating information on the KC Topic. Like it was in our Ask Expert section, we allow responses that have some relevance to the Topic even if in an indirect way.

    Let us consider each of your submissions, and I will mention what relevant additional details I would give that are associated with the Topic if I were to respond to it-
    1. The BAMS topic: I would first mention what BAMS is, then the importance of clearing Class 12 with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (check out the syllabus and you will know why), and then simply mention that NEET is mandatory (the only point that I would need to repeat because of the nature of the query, and give the full form of NEET).

    2. The CMAT topic: I would check out the official information brochure and mention details not given, such as the number of test centres, the documents required to be taken when going for the test, the provision of common service centres to help candidates to apply, the provision for test practice centres, etc.

    3. The Alliance University MBA topic: I would mention which dept/unit of the university is offering the MBA program, the duration, the MBA program not mentioned already in the earlier response, etc.

    The bottom line is that you can glean a lot of information from the official website in the case of admissions, such as the program structure details, doing some research on the latest NIRF rank of the course, a brief insight into the career scope of the course, etc. You do not literally have to stick to the standard text of an admission notification. Also, in the case of all the above topics, somebody can respond with useful tips to prepare for the specific entrance test for the particular course.

    Vandana has explained the matter very well. I want to add that the members who are contributing in knowledge centre should try to become the first responder to a question. That will give the benefit of early bird contribution and depending on the quality of that they will be awarded the cash points.
    The contributions of the subsequent members will only be recognised when they add new value and more details.
    Incidently if the first response is not very good and of average quality then obviously the subsequent responders will have a better chance to earn better cash points.
    Please remember that knowledge Centre is not like the sites like 'Quora' or 'Fixya' where hundreds of answers will be published as their model is totally different from the Knowledge Centre here.

    Thank you, Vandana, You have given a detailed explanation. But I am not able to get a reason for rejection. The mentioned reason is 'Information is already available'. The answers of other members are not visible to me when I am trying to answer the item. Then how come I know what information is already available?
    Additional information related to the topic can be given. Then there may be a comment saying that" unnecessary information is given". Many members prefer the Article section as they may get better CC there if a piece of very detailed information is given.
    Please clarify whether the second answer will be rejected if already the information is available in the first answer. I can show several answers that are accepted even though the information is the same as that of the first one. I am not asking about my rejected answer. However, there should be a proper guideline for the members to respond in KC. Otherwise, members may lose interest in answering the items due to confusion.

    It is possible that the editor missed out on giving the reason for a rejected response.

    You may have noticed more strict editing than when the Knowledge Centre was first launched. A response may be shifted to pending based on irrelevant information and the member will be expected to modify it, or it may be rejected outright if the entire text is irrelevant. Responses which have provided the same information as the earlier ones may be approved due to some minuscule details that may not have been covered earlier, but these will then get fewer cash credits, Try to understand that we have to check responses on a case-to-case basis and hence you may see some differences in editing.

    Thank you Vandana for your comments. Now your answers are very reasonable. Yes, What you said is correct. Earlier such answers were approved but the CC given may be very less. I am not worried about CC.

    Yes, there are some differences in editing. Even the same I noticed in the Article section. When I submitted an article to the syllabus section. the editor asked me to specify the class for which that subject is a syllabus. I gave that. But that is the only article where a class was mentioned. Even I have submitted many articles in the Syllabus section without mentioning the class.

    Yes. that does happen. I have no complaints or regrets. Take the things as they come and go on. Nobody is forcing me or any other member to continue here. It is our individual decision only.

    I would like to give some feedback based on what editors are finding while reviewing responses to the Topics-
    1. For everyone- Putting HTML tags gives a neat structure to the text, just as it is in an article, and including a few relevant internal links to related articles (we have a large database of career-related ones, scholarships, and educational institutions), course pages, colleges, schools, institutes, and universities keeps visitors within our site. For Topics related to pursuing a course/career abroad, you could give relevant links to the countries in our Study Abroad section/Study Abroad articles . Contact information at the end with an external link to the official website is also beneficial.

    2. For Dr Sanchita- Please take care of spacing issues. There are often small gaps, such as between the words in the headings and the h3 closing/opening tags put there; gaps before and after a backslash; gaps in-between a sentence such that there will be a few words, and then suddenly it is left hanging with the rest of the sentence on the next line. Also, avoid repeating instructions of registration, logging in, and applying within the same text.

    3. For Sheo Shankar Jha- Good to see that you are using the Grammarly tool to work on errors in the text. It is suggested that you check out the structure, too. That is, how the information is given. It often seems scattered and we have to rearrange the details to give it a natural flow.

    4. Dr Rao and Umesh- Sometimes you put a few sentences, then start the next paragraph without putting a space of one line. Also, once in a while, there are spacing issues, like the gaps mentioned in #2.

    5. Ajay Gupta- Good to see you contributing. Do try not to clutter the text.

    6. Swati Sarnobat- Take care of spacing, punctuation, and grammar and give a few relevant internal links.

    Regarding Topics- From time to time, all of you could post Topics after checking through the search box that it has not been submitted earlier, Do not wait for editors and other members to post topics.

    Thank you for your feedback. I regularly check my email. The same is given here also. But no emails are coming regarding the status of my submissions in KC. I get the information, Only when I go and check the section.

    A gentle reminder to everyone- You must check back on your responses to KC Topics. Editors may have shifted them to pending with the reasons clearly given, and it is your responsibility to make the required corrections quickly. Keep in mind that the fact that it was shifted to pending and not outright deleted indicates that it does have some useful details. What's more, other responses may come in and although you did submit the valid information, if the later responses already have that information, it will diminish the value of your response. Also, if you correct after the payment for the month is announced, then the cc you would have got for the response will not get included, and you may miss out on becoming an eligible payee altogether.

    So don't neglect pending content (even in other sections)!

    In the changed situation, now many members may shift their focus to this section. So it is better if all the members understand the rules and regulations of the section. Otherwise, disturbances may come in between. Please specify a section where we can get all the guidelines for the authors who want to post topics or answers in this particular section. If there is any change in the evaluation process or if any new guidelines are there, those can be expressed clearly.
