Is there any need to change the T&C for continuing the membership levels?

This thread is posted as a member to get the views of my fellow ISCians. In fact, I wanted to post this in the morning itself but the thread regarding discontinuance of RSB has diverted my attention.

I joined ISC on 5th October 2013 and became the fastest member to get the Diamond level in 10 months by contributing in various sections. Later I became an Editor and my contributions and Editorial reward points helped me to retain my Diamond level till 2017.
There is an over-riding condition - Diamond: 10001 to 50000 Points AND 2,500 points earned in last 12 months and for Platinum: Above 50000 Points AND 10,000 points earned in last 12 months. The said criterion could not be fulfilled due to my regular absence for long spells which resulted in down-gradation of Gold membership.
This happens to everyone, if you are not consistent. We have to change with the time. To retain the old members and to get new members, I strongly feel the capping on the Diamond and Platinum membership level should be removed. I mean to say, the Diamond membership continues, if you cross 10000 points and platinum membership level should be more than 50000 points, irrespective of the fact of his continued contribution or not. This would continue the morale of the contributors.
What do you say? Your opinion too would help to discuss the point with the Core team.

I never knew that one has to consistently contribute to keep their medals intact on ISC. Until now I was thinking that once a member achieves a level, it remains for rest of the time even after not contributing.
    Thanks and regards.

In the present scenario these figures are to lowered significantly otherwise no one will be able to achieve these laurels.
So, the total number of points so far accumulated as well as the points to be earned in a year both need review and reduction to suit the present circumstances.
Management has to take a call on that modification.

Almost six years ago, I congratulated myself on getting the Platinum Shield within three years of joining this site. On that self-congratulatory post, I pointed out this particular fact and expressed doubt about my ability to maintain the same momentum year after year.

Please read the last para of this post of mine: From now on I have to score 28 points everyday!

My apprehension has been proved correct and from a proud Platinum member, I have now become a non-descript, errant Gold member, who is always rebuked by the Editors.

    Jagdish,

I agree with you. If I recall, I had once suggested that at least the Platinum membership levels should be retained irrespective of whether or not contributions continue because a member's contributions should be considered valuable for the long term. Due to various reasons, especially when taking up employment opportunities, members have stopped contributing here. This does not mean that their membership in terms of the quality content they put in, has become so unworthy that they should be demoted. ISC is what it is today because it has been lovingly built up by a huge family from the foundations laid by the Webmasters.

So yes, it would be good to let members keep their status of both, Diamond and Platinum membership and let those shields continue to shine on their profile page for infinity.

I think the eye on these medals by members have gone and those days are precious in competing each other but of late I have seen the money concept over takes the medal concept. Also for the sake of RSB people are writing at a length without stuff to earn points. Also in contests I feel the philosophy than facts is taking the front end to get prize. It is my POV which may be wrong. So if the T&C changed also members may feel OK but there won't be any apprehension unless and until something happened to money only. If you just go through the money earned and contribution you may get some idea of what I am saying and with this POV people may feel bad but I can't help being the lovable fan of this site.

Very valid point raised by the author. This is the problem with all diamond members. Scoring 10,000 points is very difficult and except Vandana, nobody else will qualify for this condition this year. As mentioned by him getting a demotion will definitely down the morale of the member.
In the present circumstances, it is better to ask for minimum scores for retaining the memberships gained. Otherwise, the minimum requirement of points to be scored for retaining the level should be brought down to the possible minimum level.
As all the members including the Managing Editor also expressed the same opinion, I think they can see that this particular term can be removed or revised so that members will not get demotivated.

Under the present situation, the ISC management must take care of the members of their status occupied by each member. Achieving a level of Platinum, Diamond and so on takes considerable time and losing the same in minutes can be heartbreaking news for the affected members.
Such a change will surely dampen their artistic abilities. At least, let them enjoy their their glorious status and encourage them to render their best contributions without penalising them. I think the management will take care of such crucial decision.
