That is a very genuine question and many answers may come from different people. As far as I am concerned, parents should observe their children when they are in their lower, middle and high school and know the interests of the child. If necessary they can interact with the teachers also. When they come to the intermediate level we should guide them and see that they will get admitted into the streams that are interesting to them. Then they can do well in their studies and during their studies they can have some understanding about the jobs they may get and select the career they like. These days getting a job itself is very difficult. So let them get a job and then do well in that and go up in their career. Students can think about the level of education based on their interest in a particular job.

One should choose a career line in which one has interest and one is also able to work hard in pursuing it. That is the main mantra for success.
Career guidance is also available but that should suit to the person.

    Knowledge is power.

Career goal should be clear from the school days and a child must know what's his/her goal. If there is no clear plan for career ahead then kids tend to become complacent and don't reach their full potential. One must have a clear goal set and there should be consistent effort to reach that goal. Unnecessary distractions regarding career goal can be dangerous and will lead to nothing. So, identify the kid's skills and interests and work towards it through proper planning from the school days.
    Thanks and regards.

So long as a student is in the middle school stage, he must be allowed to go through all the topics taught in the class. In that way, he would be familiar with the fundamentals of each subject. The guardian can at least identify his potential for the different subjects. However, this is not the right stage for encouraging him to a particular career. Once a student enters the high school stage, the guardian can identify his inclination for a particular stream such as Science, Arts and Commerce.
The parent has to be vigilant in which area his or her daughter is showing much more inclination. During the session of parents/teachers meeting, the parent must take the opinion of the teachers regarding his information apart from his children.
Since it is the life of a child, the parent should never go beyond the wish of the child. The only thing that a parent can do is to provide the child with all the facilitating resources to meet his requirements so that he achieves his goal.
