We need to innovate more in developing people

There is a fairly good National Health System in London. Am told it is there in other parts of UK as well. The highly trained midwives take care of everything. Including the delivery of the child. Further counselling and advice on nutrition and so on is done by these midwives. One is not very sure about the content of their training but they do everything except surgeries. Even in Chennai, in India, there is a professional course for four years and these smart personnel are even authorized to prescribe normal drugs. They assist the doctors in all major surgeries.

We need professionals and possibly many medical Universities can have tie-ups with these hospitals, so that we can identify very good opportunities for such professionals.

Our problem is over population. We can easily export at least three lakh such people every year. We just need to identify the scope and then go through Government channels to expand the scope for further collaboration. It is also true that precious money comes back from these NRIs and forms the backbone of the entire economy of specific places, like in Kerala. Am also told that the largest number of trained nurses are employed in UK.

We need to keep on innovating to develop manpower. At the moment, with rare exceptions, the rich and the powerful seems to be enjoying all the benefits of their migrating to different countries, including USA.

In India also some midwives conduct deliveries on their own. Many of us may not know. There are many new courses and people are opting for such courses.
I agree with the author that we have to develop manpower in various professional areas so that they can get jobs abroad and settle there. As he mentioned there should be a tie-up between medical universities and hospitals so that their students can get trained in these hospitals and get good jobs with that exposure if not in India. Abroad.
Hope with the new education policy things will improve and chances of getting a job will increase for educated youth,

There are a lot of untrained personnels in our country who are proficient in midwifery courses but cannot render their jobs in government hospitals since such a policy has not been formulated. Their skills can be raised with a set of training to make them competent in midwifery. Human Resources Development is an important area which needs to be strengthened so that their income level could be raised more sustainably .

In medical line there is a big need of qualified persons and there is good scope for these professionals in our country as well as abroad.
I have gone through an article in ISC that gives an elaborate account of a medical profession that sits between a nurse and a doctor. Such courses should be available to the interesting students who can make a good career in medical line.
Today new professions are emerging everywhere and only thing is our education system should make it available to the prospective candidates.

    Knowledge is power.
