We need to innovate more in developing people
There is a fairly good National Health System in London. Am told it is there in other parts of UK as well. The highly trained midwives take care of everything. Including the delivery of the child. Further counselling and advice on nutrition and so on is done by these midwives. One is not very sure about the content of their training but they do everything except surgeries. Even in Chennai, in India, there is a professional course for four years and these smart personnel are even authorized to prescribe normal drugs. They assist the doctors in all major surgeries. We need professionals and possibly many medical Universities can have tie-ups with these hospitals, so that we can identify very good opportunities for such professionals.
Our problem is over population. We can easily export at least three lakh such people every year. We just need to identify the scope and then go through Government channels to expand the scope for further collaboration. It is also true that precious money comes back from these NRIs and forms the backbone of the entire economy of specific places, like in Kerala. Am also told that the largest number of trained nurses are employed in UK.
We need to keep on innovating to develop manpower. At the moment, with rare exceptions, the rich and the powerful seems to be enjoying all the benefits of their migrating to different countries, including USA.
