Adopt moderation to have a smooth life

It is said that extreme of anything is bad. I strongly believe in that. When we do a thing in extreme mode or adopt an activity much more than required then it may start giving some unwanted effects.
For example drinking liquor in a limited amount say once a week may be good for health but same thing if done in an uncontrolled manner would becomes a big problem and ruin the life of the person.
This is true for many activities and we should avoid going to extreme in any matter.
Moderation in our activities is the key mantra in this respect and people who adopt moderation are generally successful in their lives and are able to manage a good life style.
What are your views on this? Does moderation help us? How to determine that we have to stop at a particular juncture and adopt moderation? Is it feasible in all our activities? Please share your thoughts on this.

Moderation is a great tool in certain situations. I have experienced it in the quantity of the food intake that we are taking daily.
Many people take a variety of foods during the day and it is very common to have overeating. That creates a lot of health problems and people have to go to doctor to mitigate the same. If they moderate their food intake and restrict it then not only their weight is managed but also they would not need to visit a doctor so frequently.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

True. We should be within limits always. We all know that a cat which is generally a very soft animal will be violent if you try to beat it by closing all the doors and windows of the room. If your boss or a person in a higher position starts cursing you without any reason or without giving you a chance to speak out your thoughts, you can tolerate it to some extent. But once he crosses that limit you will revert openly.
Moderation may help us many times to avoid many conflicts. In all aspects of our lifestyle, we should be moderate. Even a rich person, without understanding the importance of money in life, spends lavishly chances of becoming poor will be there. I have seen many families who lost all their properties because of their lavish spending.
A person who understands where to start and where to stop will have better human relations in their lives, I think.

The advice is good. We need moderation in our life. But what is the limit of moderation? Doesn't moderation vary from person to person or even society to society? We have to set our limit first before practising moderation.
So, it is very easy to preach but not so easy to practise considering different parameters for different persons.

    Moderation in anything is advisable.
Sloka 17 in Chapter 6 of Bhagavad Gita starting" Yuktaahaara vihaarasya......... emphasises need of moderation in everything starting from taking food.
Ayurveda and Yoga also give focus on moderation.
