From my knowledge I heard about the war since 1964. Then we think some jawans are fighting in the border of our country, that is all. Though we know about the Military training in terms of National Cadet Corpse in college/high schools, we were thinking that it was some sort of training.
But when the Kargil victory was in the news all over India, we all realized what is the real job of our Military force.
Further to this in 2010, I went to Phulbani, Orissa with our family members. One day when we were sitting on the road side to witness Rath Yatra, an old woman was standing by our side, she casually ask something to my wife in Oriya Language. My wife was not aware of that language she showed me to her. Then she asked me in Hindi and I replied to her. She further asked about me and I told we were there from Tamil Nadu to our relative's house etc., Amidst our talking she told that her only son died in Kargil war and she was not having any supporting persons other than the solatium given by the Government. I just realized the consequence of a war personally. By hearing from me my wife suggested to inform my relative to extend some help to that old woman. I told my relative person who was in Police department and he arranged some facilities for her later.
But the thing in this incident I remember the King Ashoka, who realized about the consequences of war only in that place, Orissa, then Kalinga Reign.
War is not like olden days kings did but the present war situation every Indian should realize as personal happenings to him/her. We should honor our Countries National Anthem and is the way what we honor our Mother India. Those who have enough money should contribute in a good manner to the Flag Day Fund comes every December 5th.
