Who is Mohammad Yunus, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh?

Mohammad Yunus was born in British-ruled undivided India in 1940. He was born in Hathazari, Chittagong District, which is in present-day Bangladesh. Yunus is an economist from Bangladesh, but very few of us know that he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2006 not for any economic theory, but for peace. He established Grameen Bank (a microfinancing organization) in Bangladesh, which is stated to have made many Bangladeshi women self-reliant.

Thanks to the Anandabazar (media) Group of West Bengal, we, the Indian Bengalis, almost started to treat him as a God-sent person. But, subsequently, one after another skeleton started to tumble out from his cupboard. We came to know that his Grameen Bank gives loans at a very high interest rate (according to Sheikh Hasina, he is a 'bloodsucker of poor people'). He is alleged to be involved in many financial irregularities and corruption. He was even alleged to obstruct the construction of 'Padma Setu' (Bridge on River Padma) in Bangladesh by using his influence in the World Bank not to grant a loan to Bangladesh for this purpose. Later Bangladesh completed the construction from its own resources, although there was a huge time overrun and cost overrun. Now, we hear that Mohammad Yunus has been trying to create a terrible and volatile condition for Sheikh Hasina for the last one year with active collaboration with Tarek Rahman (exiled opposition leader of Bangladesh now in London), George Soros, ISI and other communal forces operating from the middle-east Asia.

However, with the direct support of the armed forces of Bangladesh and the communal, anti-Hasina faction of students of the country, Mohammad Yunus has now become the head of the interim government of Bangladesh. But I have grave doubts whether this 84+ person with no administrative experience can guide Bangladesh in this terrible situation.

Despite all these, I would like to follow 'wait & watch' policy in respect of Mohammad Yunus as the head of the interim government of Bangladesh. If he fails, the Bangladesh Army will be always ready to take over.

The author has provided valuable input from Md. Yunus exposing his past misdeeds. By face, he looks calm and determined. However, his past events are indicative of his notoriety. The initial phase of his administration does not manifest his true intent but it would be exposed at a later stage.
We doubt the stability of peace in Bangladesh in the time ahead with the administration of Md. Yunus. This could prove to be an area of concern for both Bangladesh and India.
Let us hope for the best.

I read in some articles in which it was stated that Md. Yunus is a microfinance expert and got a nobel prize for peace. But now with the details given by the author in this thread, I learnt more about this individual. But the anti-Hasina group of people selected him as the Head of their interim government. What stand he will take and how he will deal with the situation is to be seen. Let us wait and see.

As I understand his name was suggested by some student leaders as he is very popular among them. He is only a temporary caretaker and will be there only till the elections. So it is an interim measure.
Bangla Desh is going through a difficult situation as different fractions have different political ambitions and we do not know how the coming events are going to unfold.
Student leaders will have a big role in the future Govt there. Even in the interim cabinet some student leaders are inducted.

Mohammad Yunus, in Bangladesh, as of now is just a façade and camouflage for those who created the present chaotic situation. The real colours will come to open in due curse. He would have been one of the tools of the external interests who wanted to create the current situation in Bangladesh by removing Sheikh Hasina.

The situation as of now is murky and vulnerable for anything. But very soon those inside that country who are nourished and nurtured by the vested interests and extremist Islamists will take over once the media glare reduces. And Yunus will leave the scene taking some plush posting or tasks abroad again. He may be rewarded by his handlers suitably or assigned some further errands to do.

Yunus will have to vacate his position in two months. Already BNP and Jamat-e-Islami have demanded this.
