Why most of the technologically advanced nations are performing excellently in sports?

Olympics are going on we can clearly notice that most of the technologically advanced nations are leading the medals tally. Countries like USA, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, France, Germany, etc are way ahead of others in terms of medals. These all nations have something in common that is the technologically advanced civilization. These are the nations that produce high quality technology related gadgets. Almost every part of world have an electronic gadgets related to these countries.

Is there any connection between technology and performance in sports? Why countries like India are lagging behind these nation even after known as the top 5 economies in the world? Even a small island in Caribbean islands known as St. Lucia produces a 100m sprint champion but India fails to a single Gold medal. Even poor nations like Kenya, Guatemala, Zambia, etc have a better medal tally in spite of getting inferior facilities. What's your take on this issue?

In some countries there is a conducive environment for people practicing sports and competing for international games like Olympics. The developed countries where governance is good and facilities are also better generally do well in international sports arena.
This betterment we can see in other areas also. The performance of people, their productivity, discipline, hard work, and many such things differ from country to country. In some countries inspite of lack of manpower the government there is able to keep the country clean and in order. It means that citizens are also well aware of the things and co-operate with the ruling regime.
So it is not only the facilities and status of the country that matters but the work culture and sincerity of the citizens including workers and sportsmen also count in this matter.
Over and above that if the sports authorities are not unbiased in their selection process then only good sports person would get opportunity to perform better in international sports arena.

In India sports is a sidekick to get government jobs on quota. Most people are not serious about sports and their main focus is on getting a job. The amount of money required to become a top class athlete is usually not available in India. Only after an athlete gets some success, he/she will be provided help from government.

Above all the greatest problem is the corruption in sports. Deserving athletes don't get chances because they don't have connections. You can easily see most of the players selected are from Haryana and Punjab. Is sports only about Punjab and Haryana? Why they are not going on a talent hunt all over the country? We are a country of 1.4 billion people and these sports authorities are ignoring the rest of the country just for the sake of favouritism.

    Thanks and regards.

Way back in 1984, Los Angeles Olympics: India lost in hockey. Our only hope was PT Usha in 400 meters. She ran her hearts out but stood fourth in the photo-finish. We were all disheartened but Usha got a hero's (or heroine's) welcome when she returned to India.

Now, let us come back to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Lakhya Sen, India's medal hope in men's badminton could not get the bronze. He stood fourth. He was brutally criticized by his coach Prakash Padukone.

As far as I know, there were another three Indians in this Olympics who could not get bronze medal and stood fourth in their individual event. But, we have already forgotten their names.

This is the change of attitude of Indians towards sports. We are no longer satisfied with the fourth position. I am optimistic that this change of attitude will help India to get more and more medals in the Olympics and in other international competitions.

In India, games and sports are not given that much importance. Many parents want their children to excel in their studies. This attitude is slowly changing and people are also getting interested in extra circular activities. This is mainly due to the high percentage of poor people. Their main concern is earning their daily food requirements. Even middle-class people cannot think of sports due to their need for jobs.
To get expertise in the field, people must spend time and money, and many can't afford this. But in advanced countries, this problem is not there. They can spend money to get specialised coaching and to have costly coaches. There is no scarcity of talent in India. In rural India also we will find many youths practising various sports. However, they will not get the necessary support financially from their parents or governments.

I don't think that performance in sports and technology are interrelated. In India, cricket has been given more importance than any other sport. From the audience's point of view, IPL T20/World Cup cricket matches were being watched more interestingly than the recent Paris Olympics. Moreover, in schools, there is a weekly once PT session. If so, how can we expect to have won gold medals or even bronze medals? Schools focus mainly on academics just conducting annual sports meets, but not even promoting sports to have their wards participating nationally. Parents also have not bothered to encourage the kids to excel in any sports activity of their interests. Our country has been technically more advanced, yet the medal tally at the Paris Olympics is poor despite the government having the Sports Ministry not allocating enough funding for sports. We need to infuse enthusiasm in sports among the youth from the school and find out the talents without the interference of politics in sports.

Normally I am not interested in sports cinema and politics as it may turn into quarrel or misunderstanding as definitely controversial opinion comes.
But as for as the sports, that too recently ego and internal politics plays more. This reduces the real spirit and through that lack of interest creeps which automatically leads to failure.
