Many people have mental stress at some point of time in their lives. Some have more of it while some have it only a limited number of times. There are many reasons for mental stress in our lives and most of the times it is due to livelihood or relationship or failures or other such setbacks.
The stressful phase remains for some time and then gradually we come back to our normal state. It is said that such bouts of mental stress affect our health in one or other way. Yes, remaining in a stressful situation for a prolonged period might cause an elevation of our normal blood pressure due to deprivation of sleep. Trouble starts from a lack of sound sleep. It will cause indigestion and gastric issues. If the stressful situation continues for a longer period, the entire body's metabolism will be affected gradually such as the liver, pancreas, and kidney.
We need to think about the original cause of stress and the same has to be tackled in the initial phase with a thorough thinking of how we can overcome this painful situation. Sometimes, we might not be in a position to resolve the same and compromising with the situation could be the best way to keep ourselves normal.
Trying to find a solution alternatively with a cool mind could be the other option.

Most hormones in human body are controlled by the brain and stress usually affects the whole function of the body. People think stress don't have any effect but they are mistaken if they think so. People can't live happily if they are in tension and whatever they eat will not help because brain will release stress hormones. These stress hormones are chemicals that can negatively impact the growth and cause serious ailments in the long run. It is always a good decision to get stress out of your life through some leisure activities and hobbies. Mind should have proper rest then only it will function properly.
Humble yourself or life will do it for you!

Mental stress is really harmful to both physical and mental health. We should not get stressed more and also frequently.
My father is a good example of this. He used to think always about his health. He used to have mental stress always thinking about his health. Slowly he became psychologically sick. With any small health problem, he will become nervous. That made him anxious and his body shivered heavily for any small issue also. I took him to a doctor and he said that it is anxiety neurosis. He has been on medication for the past 40 years. Initially, he used to have big work tension and stress as he was having heavy work in the office and slowly that led him to this issue.
One should not get stressed more than a certain limit. Nowadays some medicines are coming for stress release. Yoga may help to some extent to get relief from stress.

Stress affects our brain and brain is the place from where all the functions of the body are monitored and managed. It is a complex system. We do not know what is the direct relation between the two but definitely stress will affect our physical health.
    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

Yes, it is harmful. When we talk about our health, it is not only physical health but also mental health. Physical stress affects our physical wellbeing and mental stress affects our mental wellbeing. Both are essential when we think of a healthy life and for that, mental stress has to be reduced at all costs. Generally, we are not very careful when it comes to the health of our minds as there is no physical pain when one undergoes mental stress/tension. We think it will go away with time and may not properly address it always. In the long run, that may create a problem and that's why it is suggested that if the mental stress or tension becomes unmanageable it is always better to consult a professional dealing with such issues.

Certainly. The mind is a major tool for any disease. No medicine can cure any disease unless otherwise the mind is co-operating, Mental stress is keep a curtain between the medicine/treatment and our illness. Many of when got fell in illness go to doctor but once we return from the doctor after consultation and medicine, our mind is not get satisfied but our stress is increasing whether the doctor gave a correct medicine or not. Immediately we refer computer for that medicine and related diseases. In computer the usage of that particular medicine for many diseases including this patient have. But this patient immediately get mental stress that whether the doctor wrongly diagnosed his disease or wrongly given the medicine.
Some people wrongly diagnosed himself correlating with some other thing. I read in one medicine book that a man came to a doctor by saying that he dreamt as he swallowed a cat and asked the doctor to check whether the cat is in him. He checked thoroughly and told nothing found inside him. As he did not satisfied his mental stress shoot up, he went to another doctor he also said no cat found in him. With increased stress, he went to another doctor. On hearing his problem the doctor agreed to him, took an X-Ray and told him a cat is inside him and asked him to come on the next day prepared so as he can take out the cat from him. But the patient asked the doctor how he found out the cat as earlier two doctors told nothing. This doctor replied," I took the X-Ray in dark and so that the cat came to my vision". Satisfied with the reply the patient agreed to come on next day with fees. The Nurse asked the doctor why he told lie to him. Doctor calmly replied her that he told like that to release his mental stress and asked her to have a cat with her on the next day and to make it run when he nodded his head after the patient came in. Next day the patient came and the doctor told him that," I decided to take out the cat from you without any operation. But I will hit on your center head strongly. You should shout loudly by opening your mouth widely." When the patient shouted loudly, the nurse made the cat (which she hide with her) to run on the patient's vision. The patient jumped with joy and told the doctor that he only correctly cured his problem. By saying this he poured money before the doctor with joy. Both doctor and Nurse felt happy as they removed his mental stress. The patient move out but stand at the entrance and told the doctor, "Sir, I swallowed white cat but the black cat only came out, How?' Immediately the doctor and Patient got fainted. \
So, mental stress can be cured by ourselves only as not prolonging from one to another.

We have sometimes many doubts about our health. However, we never take the consultation for this regarding our false impression of our health condition nor do we tell anyone about such an issue. Constant stress in a hypothetical situation could lead to a breakdown of our bodies which might be sometimes irreversible.
