    How to control our emotions?

    Emotions are normal in our everyday lives. Frustration, Sadness, anger and joyfulness are some of the emotions we undergo in different situations. Sometimes when we are stuck in busy traffic and the chances of missing the flight are increasing we will get frustrated. When somebody is trying to behave differently we may get irritation. These emotions may change very rapidly in some people and they may go into peaks. This will have an ill effect on the health of the person.

    Emotions should be controlled. Keeping silent and talking to yourself in a positive may help you in controlling your emotions. I request all the learned members of this site to share their knowledge on this subject here.

    Though emotions are not easily controllable to many of us giving us a chance of irritation and negative emotions, it does not affect the behaviours of others. Thinking always regarding their behaviour our health will deteriorate affecting us in many ways such as elevation of blood pressure, insomnia and restlessness. This could be a permanent loss to us.
    We must think that God has been kind enough to provide us with a sound metabolism - free from ailments and the same cannot be achieved with the administration of medicines prescribed by a doctor. The worst point is that our body will be habituated with such medicines and at any point of time, we might not discontinue the same.
    We need to think how best we can lead our lives without stress to enjoy the lives without any emotional setbacks. We all should choose the right step.

    Emotions are the natural things in human beings and are generated or provoked by certain situations, actions, and circumstances. They are the gentle and soft manifestations created in our minds and manifest accordingly depending upon the type of external stimulus.
    A human being without emotions is a stone rock, devoid of heart as they say. Having emotions is not a negative thing. In fact it makes a human personality complete in all the respects.
    Excessive emotions can create problems and to that extent controlling them makes sense.

    Knowledge is power.

    At some times, we should be practical and think of the situation, just wearing the shoes of the other side. Definitely, we start thinking in a positive way and we can control ourselves. As someone has said that it depends on the situation. But we have to drain out our feelings or emotions, whatever it may be, when your self respect is at stake or someone is deliberately making an attempt to let down you.

    Generally emotions are not controllable. There is no medicine or tools to control the emotions. At the same time we cannot spend our day without emotions of any type.
    As told in Bagavath Gita, we cannot suddenly come to the stage of 'sthitha prakgnan' but if we practice some meditation we can over come the emotions.
    We should sit for meditation daily for certain hours or minutes compulsorily or should go to the nearest Temple/Church or Mosque and sit calmly in a place with concentrated mind over the Supreme Power therein.
    If we keep going or doing like this our mind will automatically overcome the emotions to certain level.

    The other day, one of my relatives was talking to me. She always appears to be emotions-free. But recently she lost her mother. I went to see her and she told me that she wrongly considered herself as emotionless but she could not control her emotions when her mother expired. Emotions will dominate us based on the situation and controlling them is not an easy task.
