Is it a holiday today for ISC?

It appears as if it is a holiday for ISC also today. Yesterday also I saw very little activity on this site. Today it is still less. Generally, on Sundays, we see less activity on this site. Today is a Sunday. But the activity is very low when compared to other Sundays.

Even Editors or regular members are also not visible. Probably they are all busy. Hope there will be an increase in the activity and members will visit the site regularly. ISC top bosses and Editors should think of ways and means to improve the traffic so the site will get its old fame and name. Otherwise, interested members may also disappear shortly.

Let us be optimistic and try to bring up the site with quality submissions.

Yes, your inference may be correct. When I logged at 12.30 hrs today, nobody has seen as a Top Contributor of the day and yesterday's scores were visible. A helpless smile on my face and went on to observe/read the responses to the various threads and your comment in ISC inputs thread has drawn my attention. RSB suspension may not be the reason for the laxity in contribution but some how are run rate has drastically fallen down.

Here, many members are well matured and served in different positions and more knowledgeable though they are not in the Editorial team and I don't think they are bothered about earning or RSB. We have suggested some improvements for attracting active participation of members and WM has to give his nod for it. Sure, we will pull up the threads where there have been slowed down.

    Regards,
    Jagdish

Normally, editors are more active here but they also are absent nowadays. It looks like ISC is going through a rough patch. People are losing interest because of lack of motivation to contribute.

The present phase is not all encouraging since the responses have dropped drastically in all the sections. Maybe it is a transition phase and ISC will formulate some guidelines to retain its past glory. Our learned members have offered their suggestions from time to time for the improved traffic. Hope, we will soon be able to overcome this sad phase.

Jagdish, Thanks for your prompt reply and I hope Editors like you will take the initiative and try for the revival of the site. I agree with you that many of the members on this site are not working for the money they get from this site. So RSB may not be a reason. In such cases, the reasons for the present state should be searched and proper corrective actions should be taken. In addition to Members, Editors should also contribute more to the site. There are many editors and each of them spends some time here, we will see a sea change. I don't know why these editors are not coming forward to contribute to this site.
I am not pointing out editors and if anybody thinks like that, I pray for their excuse. But everybody should think and find out the ways and means to improve the activity on this site. The leader's role will be very important in protecting the sinking ship.

At times, such things do happen, I mean less contribution to ISC throughout the day. Multiple factors are there for this less contribution. Suspension of RSBs may not be the sole reason and members may feel perplexed regarding the improvement of traffic. It is clearly stated by WM, that the traffic is quite low in various sections which means that the posts are not attracting more readers. In such a scenario the writers may be waiting for some direction which will help them to decide on the topic they will write on to fetch more traffic for ISC. I feel this is a temporary phase and soon the activities will pick up here.

I also wish that it should be a temporary phase and soon the site will get back to its earlier activity.

Due to increasing number of websites in the internet space it is obvious that competition would increase between the similar ones. Moreover Google Adsense is often changing its search algorithm and it becomes difficult for the sites to cope up with that. Still I feel that the experienced webmasters can circumvent these challenges by better SEO techniques and quality content.
SEO is a complex thing but better quality content can be provided by the members working in a particular site duly mentored by the editors or moderators.
Sites having large memberships and senior members becoming the moderators are having better chances to compete in this environment.
Let us collectively try for the betterment.

When competition is there, chances of getting the best out of us will be enhanced. There is a proverb in Telugu which means that when no trees are around, the Castrol oil tree will appear big. So one should see that in tough conditions we should prove that we are the best. That should be the spirit. Yes. We all should collectively work and get the best out of us and see that this site will perform well. This will happen only with cooperation from all members and Editors, I feel.

Last two days I was fully engaged in other priority family , religious and community matters. Hence I could not visit ISC yesterday full.
But generally also the activity in ISC is tapering- the reason we all know as obvious. Some members keep loitering here for reasons of habit, loyalty, conviction and just for their own ways of expression. That may continue even if in trickles as far as they(we) are welcome here and until prohibited or wounded off. Lt such negativism not happen.

Certainly, the forum is not getting the same kind of attention these days. Even Vandana Madam is not seen here from the last fews days. She is the Managing Editor and usually the most active person on ISC. Is everything alright?
    Thanks and regards.

  • #781803
Yes. That is true. Vandana will visit the site every day at least once. But for the last ten days, she is not visible. I don't know. Probably she may be busy with her domestic work. Only Jagdish and Saji are participating actively.

Hello Sir, I have just returned to ISC after a long time. And I am really not feeling good seeing comparatively less engagement than before. What is not going right?

If there is anything we can do to make things better from here onwards, please suggest. I don't know how to communicate this feeling but this subtle silence on ISC is not what it deserves.

Why are we not talking about solutions.

What can be done at this point?

Mr. Arya (#781818): Glad to find you in this site after such a long time. The Website has lost its old charm. Most of the old members have left. Some old members remain but they don't have much interest. There are various reasons behind it, but in my personal opinion, the wrong decision by the Webmasters and blatant autocratic attitude of some Editors are mainly responsible for this horrible present condition of this site.

I think there is no need to blame editors for the state of ISC. Most of the decisions could have been taken with revenue in the mind. ISC is not seeing the same kind of earnings, which is the reason people are losing interest. Money is a big motivation and most people are driven by it.

Many members say that money is not very important to them and the fact is that the money that we got from this site even when it was doing very well was also not high. The present state may be due to competition and no interest among the stakeholders of the site. The think tank of the site should do something and see that we will get back the old charm.
