The only way to overcome fear is to face it. Till the time you allow the fear (of anything) to stay within you, you will only let it grow but won't be able to conquer it. As is said, being brave does not mean that you have no fear, it means that you have learned to conquer your fear. Fear has been explained as an unpleasant and intense emotion caused by the threat of pain, hurt or danger. So, it implies that fear is a state of mind. Being courageous is fine but it may prove dangerous at times to be fearless. So, one should be ready to face the emotion of fear but at the same time courageous enough to face it and thus overcome the emotion.

As a young boy, I used to be afraid of darkness. But with constant support of my parents, I started moving into dark rooms or corners. I started by running into such rooms and coming back instantly and gradually increased the time I spent there alone. Slowly I could come out of the fear of darkness.

I have read in some articles related to the subject that you must not run away from what you fear. Suppose you feel that there is someone hiding in your premises, and you are frightened. Take a torchlight or something and check out personally, or take someone along, and see for yourself what is there. Once you are convinced that it was just your feeling, you will no longer be afraid. But what if don't check? You will go to bed still feeling that there is someone there and you won't be able to sleep at all.

Very true. Your fear will kill your progress. Fear is inherent in all but we should conquer it with our proactive nature and confidence. How to overcome the fear is a big question. One should not allow fear to stop you from performing. We should have confidence in us. Then only we can take action so that we will come out of that fear. We may face dangerous situations and we may be in trouble. They may cause fear in us. But we should think about how to come out of that situation and act accordingly. Instead of it, if we become inactive with our fear we will succumb and struggle.
One day, in the morning, I went to our explosive test station with my two colleagues. That room will be always under lock and key. Only when we go to test the explosives we would open and close after completing the testing. This room was in a forest. My colleague opened the door and we noticed a very big serpent in the room. All were shocked. But I told all of them to be silent and not to make any noise. We stood there for 5 minutes. Meanwhile that serpent slowly went outside and escaped into the forest from the opening in the wall from where it came inside. An opening is needed for the room. So, after that incident, we arranged a door to that opening so that no animal would come inside through that. Instead of standing mute, I was confident that the serpent would go when it smelled that somebody coming there and that is why I asked others also to stand without making any noise.

Every quote of @Jagdish for a month gives the clue of the Sun set of ISC or at least it appears to me now. Did any one of members feel so now you may share here. This quote along with if not now, when?

This reminds me of a dialogue in Tamil film Annamalai starring Rajnikanth, the villain(Radha Ravi) says kootti kalichu partha kanakku Sariya varum. That means if add and subtract the sum will come correctly.

No, I did not get any such clue other than the explicit announcements periodically.

If you can please quote them here.

If you go through his thread posted from 22 nd august till this date appears to me that there is a clue on this recent development of ISC and a new beginning of a new site.

I also read this thread of Patro Sir, but could not find any hint about the imminent closure of ISC. Maybe I have been unable to read between the lines.

I completely agree with the author here; once fear is gone, the confidence boosts up. A person feels new energy and enthusiasm once the door of fear is crossed. I personally have felt this in the area of stage fear and public speaking. I was so afraid of public speaking, even though I always had things to say in public discussions and had knowledge about the topic being discussed. However, I used to avoid speaking due to fear. Now, being a PhD student, it has become part of my duty to teach as a research assistant, organise programs, and be there on the stage whenever asked. I now feel much more confident and see that fear of the stage as just the result of my overthinking mind. Now I want to attend more and more conferences write more papers about my research and want people to listen what I am saying and this feels great.
