Some of the Private Passenger Flight operators are becoming casual

Now in India, all civil aviation companies are private companies only. Earlier Air India was a Public Sector Undertaking. But now that is also being operated by Tatas. Of all these private companies Indigo is leading and they have flights to almost all destinations in India and some destinations abroad.

Recently I travelled a lot by these private flights and I observed that these operators are ignoring some safety measures required for the passenger safety. The aircraft are being fuelled when the passengers are sitting inside the vehicle. In some flights, the crew has not demonstrated the safety precautions to be followed by the passengers. After seeing these I felt there is a change in the mindset of the crew and their approach is more casual. I like to know the views of other members on this issue.

Yes I too noticed. Also in some routes it has become regular late departure and even I have commented that they may reschedule it regularly and why they always say late late in the departure board. It happened within ten days once on 19th Aug and the same route same flight on 25th Aug.

Most of the time, I make a trip via an Indigo flight. I recall the days dating back to 2019, they were punctual to the time - schedule those days. Hence I opted for this flight. This trend is not followed seriously and the reasons for the same are not highlighted always.
Even their food quality has deteriorated as offered in the past. The management should ensure that the foods offered to the passengers are wholesome maintaing the hygienic condition.

Only when there is a public sector service available, the private sector will have some check and balance. The public sector may b comparatively less efficient, less aggressive. But they will be of a great help to helpless ordinary people. When the filed is open and only for private sector, they will form monopolies and syndicate and exploit. It will be just simple profiteering and exploitation when they know that there is no other alternative for people. It will be just predatory tactics only.

I was voicing this although , and telling that even if loss making, public sector at least prevents wholesome exploitations by private sector.

I quote below one of my forum responses in a similar context
Quote ;"Government should involve when the product is an essential one and if left to the private sector fully, the people will be exploited and fleeced mercilessly. In such cases government need not make profit also. Government should have its hand and involvement in core sectors and sectors that have impact on nation's security.
There is nothing wrong if the government enters tourism and hospitality sector and runs profitable ventures simultaneously being affordable also. However I do not approve the government involving in the liquor business and the like." Unquote

In the below quoted forum response in this threadalso I stressed the need for public sector:
Quote: "It is only because of the public sector role play that we do not suffer the extreme exploitation of the private capitalism.
The moment public sector disappears from a sector, you will see the devouring and predatory tactics of the private capitalist monopolies.
For India the public sector has still a lot of relevance at least in main and essential sectors. A very strong consumer protection mechanism is still not in practice in our country. The same MNCs who get punished in countries like US, simply have their way of consumer exploitation in India. Just imagine what will be the state when there is no public sector role?" Unquote

That is very true. When there is a public service available, definitely private service providers will be careful. However, there should not be any compromise on safety and security requirements. If any unwanted issue crops up the company will suffer a big blow and they have to face the consequences. So private service providers should see that there will not be any lapse on the important issues.

In the beginning private companies generally maintain all the necessary decorum but when they find that no one is observing or monitoring them then they start taking liberty. It is not happening only in aviation sector but also in many other fields.
    Knowledge is power.
