Do you face issues with Google Chrome?

Today I was facing issues with Google Chrome. At first, my PC suddenly crashed while on the net with Google Chrome. Then it was not loading windows on restart. I went to the advanced options or repair etc. By trial and error, I could shut down my PC. Even after restart the issue continued. At last, after many trials and errors, somehow I could progress and did a system restore.

It was after that I noticed that Google Chrome was not opening. So I tried Firefox and Microsoft Edge. Both were opening. I did my further tasks in Firefox.

Now a little while ago I searched the Net for posts within the last 24 hours to find a solution for rectifying the Chrome issue. Interestingly I could find several posts about the sudden issues with Chrome.

Till I could establish it as a Google Chrome issue, I was scared that anything was seriously wrong with my computer.

Dear ISCians are you also facing any such issues with Google Chrome, especially on your desktop PC or Laptop? If so please give your experience and how you rectified it.

I use regularly Google Chrome on my laptop. This is my default browser. I have not faced any issues recently on this. However, I faced issues with Microsoft Windows 10 on my laptop. I gave it to a technician who works on these issues. But he couldn't understand the reason. Later I contacted the local Microsoft official dealer and got the problem rectified.
I never try any other browser. But after seeing this thread I have started using Edge browser today. I have no issue with this also. Generally, if any issue comes I will contact my friend who is a technician and undertake maintenance works of laptops and desktops.

After searching internet for solutions, at last I uninstalled Google Chrome and reinstalled it . Now it works. So the problem is solved now.

It happens most of time to people who don't clear cache, cookies, and browsing history regularly. I have a habit of cleaning the internet browser regularly and don't face such issues. Other browsers are working fine, which means there is no hardware problem, it's the browser problem. Just keep it up to date and keep cleaning it. You can download cleaner software to do such jobs.

I had not experienced any big problem with Chrome browser except that once it was not updated and it was hanging. I updated it but problem continued then I was told to uninstall and again install the app and since then there is no problem.

Sir, this was unfortunate that you had to go through this issue. And there are times when a simple restore doesn't solve much.

Whenever you face such issues, your first attempt should be about closing the Chrome browser. For this, if the normal X icon is not behaving normally, you can always open your Task Manager by using the key combination of Ctrl + Alt + Del in Windows and then clicking on Task Manager. In the Task Manager, you can find all the apps which are running right now, if you find Chrome in the list, simply click on it and hit the Del key on your keyboard. Alternatively, you can right-click on the Chrome in that list and click on End Task.

We are not done yet. At this point, you must reopen Chrome browser again, but this time, in Safe Mode. Sometimes, our browsers are not behaving normally due to a wrong plugin update or addon bug, and in Safe Mode, you can continue to use your browser and backup your data without facing any mess or runtime errors.

One more trick to note down for the next time is that you can always perform a manual backup of your Chrome user profile in Windows. Once you have saved your manual backup safely, you can simply uninstall the Chrome browser, download the latest Chrome browser from the Internet, install it and restore your previous backup.

All your bookmarks, passwords, and history will be saved as if you never uninstalled your browser.

When no other solution works, this option remains a lifesaver sometimes. :)

I don't know if we are allowed to mention it but there is a site called Chron which has given an easy-to-follow tutorial to safely backup and restore your Chrome and Firefox user profile. You can Google it out the next time and keep all your history, bookmarks and other stuff safe. :)

As for your question about whether I have faced it too, well, I would say I have faced it a lot on Firefox and Chrome, either, in the past. Now, I play smarter and never lose my data even if such kind of problem occurs.

    Regards,
