On this Teacher's Day share your experiences with your teachers, mentors, and Gurus

Today is the teacher's day and we all remember and salute to our teachers, mentors, and Gurus who guided us during our school or college days and today what we are is due to their good directions given to us and also their unselfish blessings bestowed on all of their students.
Do you remember any unique or unforgettable experience that you had with your teachers during your student life or even afterwards with your mentors that you want to share with others? I request the members to share their experiences on the eve of Teachers day and pay our respect to them.

The post raised by Umesh Sir is really very interesting related to the celebration of teacher's day. I have come across several teachers during my high school stage who were in the real sense excellent motivators and true guides in their respective subjects.
One of such teachers in my secondary stage was my Mathematics Teacher taking up classes for both 1 and Mathematics 2. . The days were progressing and half the portions of both subjects were over. He realised my weakness that I lacked innovativeness in solving the questions.
He called me at his residence and advised me to go through the problems sincerely and .understanding them would help me to have a better concept of the subjects. For the remaining sections such as Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculas, He advised me to have an independent approach in tackling the problems. It is not necessary the teachers alone can offer a solution. Even my approach could be the correct way. I showed my solutions in the different sessions. He was really impressed with my effort.
I showed a splendid performance in the final examination securing 97% and 98% respectively in Maths 1 and Maths 2 in the higher secondary stage.

There are some teachers that we can never forget. When I was in my class XI then our Maths teacher was very strict and no student dared to behave improperly in his class. Literally speaking there used to be pin drop silence during the Maths class. He had a habit of asking questions while teaching and he used to ask it to the student who appeared inattentive or otherwise not listening to the lecture. If the student could not answer or stammered then he used to beat him mercilessly.
I am talking of things about 56 years back when teachers used to beat the students on one or other issue.
The result of that was that we all were attentive in his class and students in general fated well in Maths.
Good students were immensely benefited by having a strong hold in Maths.
I still remember him and today pay my respect to him and also to all those teachers who were
    so serious and sincere.

    Knowledge is power.

At the outset, I convey my best wishes to all the members of ISC on the occasion of Teacher's Day. I have come across many teachers in my life so far and salute all of them for their contribution to making me a responsible citizen of the country. Parents introduce us to society, whereas teachers introduce society to us. What is right, what is wrong and which path we have to choose will be taught by these teachers. The importance of morals and values in life is made known to us by these teachers only.
I fortunate enough to born into a family of teachers. My grandfather was a teacher, my two paternal uncles were teachers, my mother's sister was a lecturer and I was in the teaching profession for some time. I feel excited when some of my old students call me on this day to pay their respects to me.
I always treat my PhD director Prof. Nemani Krishna Murty as my mentor and guide. But for his support, I might not have did my PhD. I pay my sincere respects to him on this teacher's day

Here I have to mention Eshwar, son of my senior ln my office. I used to teach lessons to him and his sisters daily by sparing time, as I have intrest of teaching. One day ( I was not aware that day was Teachers' day), I saw a lady was sitting in the hall, I directly went inside. But the mother of Eshwar told me that the waiting lady was the teacher of Eshwar and waiting to see me only. I surprised and puzzled. The teacher told me after introduction,'sir, yesterday Eshwar was drawing something in the break time, I saw it was a greeting card for teachers. I asked him to whom he going to give. He replied with your name. Without controlling my curiosity I came here to see you. I just realised that you have impressed him with your teaching. Thanks and nice to see you'. By saying this she went to the school by taking Eshwar with her. Though this happened 20 years back, I never forget and still keeping his drawing.
