    Greetings on this auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi

    Today Ganesh Chaturthi festival is being observed in many parts of our country. In Maharashtra where I am living it is celebrated with much fun and frolic. In many housing societies and complexes the idol of Lord Ganesha is being mounted for daily worshipping, kirtan, and other religious activities. As told visarjan ceremony would be held on 11th September in the make shift water tank or other facilities provided by the municipal services to keep the event green and environment friendly.
    I wish everyone greetings on this auspicious occasion. Are you celebrating the festival in your area? Please share about your functions scheduled during these days.

    At the outset, I convey my best wishes to all the members of ISC for a happy and prosperous Ganesh Chaturthi. In both the Telugu states, this festival will be celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm. We will find a Ganesh mandapam in almost all the streets. All housing societies will also mount Ganeshs' idol and celebrate Navaratri. In many places, we will find Anna Dana programmes. Earlier days people used to have mike sets but now nobody is using these mike sets. Especially, youth will be participating in these celebrations. The immersion ceremony will be there in the 17th and Hyderabad will witness very big processions on that day. This time on the same day Miladi Nabi will be celebrated by Muslim brothers. I hope there will not be any unwanted incidents on the day of immersion.
    There is a change in the trend these days. In earlier days we used to see many programmes at night, but these days people are giving more importance to food donation and many poor people eat freely all these 9 days.

    I wish all members of the ISC family a very happy Ganesh Chaturthi. On this holy occasion, may God Ganesha shower his blessings to us. His blessings will illuminate the lives of all of us.
    There are different ways of celebrating this holy occasion but the best one is to feed the poor liberally and it is one of the best ways to secure the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

    The Ganesha festival and Puja celebrations will be observed till 12th September and this is a time of great importance for the devotees. Many people have got a new idol of Lord Ganesha in their houses and will be doing the rituals during this period.
    I wish all the members and officials of ISC a happy and prosperous festival time.
