    ISC Sunset - Thread for regular updates

    Team,

    I will keep updating this thread with the latest updates regarding the sunset and new beginning for ISC:

    - Member points recalculation and earnings recalculation are paused temporarily to make the migration to a new website easier.

    - We are currently working on the new website development. It may take about 2 months to complete.

    - The new website may not have all the modules from the current website. It will be a lot simpler when we start with.

    - We will preserve content from Forum, Resources, Topics, Ask Experts, Study Abroad sections. Other sections may not be in the initial phase when we restart. But we might bring them back eventually.

    - Forum, Topics and Ask Experts may be merged into a single section under a common name. However, the author names will remain as the original author. In some cases of content posted by some random users who never bothered to login more than once may be moved to a common guest user identity

    - Your cash balance and points will remain in the new website. However, we might restart a new system for earnings and points. The old points and cc may remain as "old balance" but may not be counted in the new way of calculating membership levels. It will be a new beginning. This means, all old members will lose their membership level and will have a fresh beginning along with the new members.

    The forum is now open for new threads to ask questions, get clarifications etc.

    Sir,

    It's good to get updates about the new beginnings for ISC. We are all eagerly looking forward to it and if the plan is to launch it within two months, it will surely be an extra happy Deepavali season!

    I agree with Saji. It does not make sense to merge the Forum with the other sections. By its uniqueness, the forum is a stand-alone section for discussions and camaraderie. Merging it with the other sections will dilute its special individuality.

    I wish to get a clarification- you stated that the forum is now open for new threads to ask questions, get clarifications, etc. Does the 'etc' mean it is open for discussions on varied topics like earlier or are you saying that this particular forum thread is open for questions and clarifications about the old and new ISC?

    Sir,

    I would like to clarify about AdSense earnings from our articles and other sections. Once you shift our content to the new platform, will we continue to earn from the earlier content and also from new content (once it is opened for new contributions)? Secondly, will we need to associate the new site with our AdSense account?

    Hoping to join the new version of the ISC at the earliest.

    Regarding last month's payment, I have a request to make. I am busy shifting, so I am unable to submit my invoice. At the earliest, I will try to do so. Kindly, consider my request so that my payment does not get delayed once I can submit the invoice. It would take some time to submit it. Hope you will consider my request!

    It is providing me with great relief that the Forum Section will remain active for resolving our doubts apart from general queries raised by the members. Though we may not be awarded any special credits for such postings. In that way, we will remain in touch with our members making our life - journey all the more interesting.

    Quite a relief to see this announcement of keeping Forum section afloat till new site is up and ready.

    Forum section is like the invisible heart for ISC which pulsates continuously ,even when the pulse becomes feeble at times. But the site can be always nourished back to health by proper remedial measures as long as the forum heartbeat continues.
    By keeping forum afloat the sure permanent damage situation of 'out of sight; out of mind' can be avoided .
    Most ISCians will not mind discontinuation of points and CC for sometime till the new site is started and will be ready t co-operate with ISC establishment. That can happen only if their wish to be in connection through the forum is kept maintained.
    Maintaining forum even with some restrictions and regulations will give the confidence and feeling that ISC is not dead but recuperating in ICU and soon will be brought to the normal ward room. For the time being a welcome relief giving announcement.

    Thanks to ISC management the Forum Section is still alive for the free discussion of the emotions of the existing members with their open hearts. Such an exchange of thoughts among the members works like an elixir to their brains indicating their passion for this platform.
    Till it takes its final shape in the form of a new configuration, I think that this might be the best means of venting out emotions to our members who remained in touch for a prolonged period.

    Perhaps the same domain name will not be possible, since it is not that this site will be entirely removed from e-space altogether. I surmised this possibility from Tony Sir's statement that only some content will be moved to the new site. I am also unaware of the new name. Whatever it is, I would love to have it as a surprise. It's always exciting not to know everything in advance!

    As I mentioned in the response of https://www.indiastudychannel.com/forum/185401-why-people-dont-show-interest-in-isc-even-when-they-are-paying-their-contributors, it will be better to have a short domain name if at all the domain name is to be changed. But brand establishing a new website with a new domain name will take more time. It is better to think in the lines of redirecting indiastudychannel.com to the new website for ranking quickly. Anyhow let us wait for Tony sir's decision.

    If it is a new domain then it will take some time to get the same kind of traffic that ISC used to get in past. Even today ISC is getting substantial amount of traffic although most of that traffic is not enough to sustain. It is worth a try to try something new with a better UI and website design. This website looks old-fashioned and even the ads are not properly placed. Modern websites are way better and more user friendly as well as SEO-friendly. The amount of content this website holds is enormous and I don't think it will be wise to lose all these content. Hence, a new domain is a better choice with some content getting transferred to the new website.

    Meanwhile lets start off with a group discussion. Choose a topic that can provoke interest among members. Every member has an apportunity to expression their feelngs , opinion, ideas, sentiments etc. Meanwhile lets forget that ISC is not functioning and join our hands together to share our thoughts.

    Already there are two or three new threads on the site. Members can respond to those topics and try to post their threads so that activity will increase. If all the members start doing this we will have good activity on this forum section.

    I fail to understand why so much discussion on this issue for so many days. When new website will be commissioned, all the present members will be informed. Those who will be interested, will join following the directions of the new editors. The members' view will get least weightage, just like the case of present website.

    There are no updates recently. Two months are over and the third month is running. What is the progress made in creating a new website? I think the Webmaster or the Managing Editor can give an update on this issue.

    As per the above subject thread it is mentioned "Your cash balance and points will remain in the new website". I just want to know whether this includes the invoice already uploaded and is pending for payment (August Cash payment).     SInce it is a major work in progress, likely the admin. cannot give us a definite date. I personally am hoping for the new site to start at least in the new year!

    Hi all,

    We are still working on the new website. Considering that this website is really huge and has a lot of old content to be ported meaningfully to the new website, we have a lot of work still pending. I can expect at least 3 months of work remaining before we can switch over to a new website.

    Now members have learnt that new site won't be ready for at least next three months. So, the members who have expertise in different sections, may hone their skills in other websites available. They may find other sites relatively more interesting and attractive. Those websites will provide more freedom of expression and creativity.

    This is only a suggestion from my side.

    It is a sincere request to all. Joining other sites and submitting contents is a personal choice but belittling a site with which you have been associated is, I think, not correct. Please wait for the site to come up in its fresh get up. It would be finally, again, your personal decision whether to remain with ISC or not. Life has many twists and turns, and so does the social media. Let us not forget that.

    Even I haven't received my first payment yet after uploading my invoice. It would be better to cancel the invoice and credit the amount to ISC account if payment is not possible.

    In my opinion, the user should have the authority to use the balance or keep it in ISC account. The invoice system looks a bit outdated when people have so many ways to get payment like PayPal or Payoneer.

    Yes, I uploaded the invoice. Thereafter, I was asked to send my GPay details. I didn't have it, later I opened the GPay account and shared the details with the webmaster. Still, I have not received the payment. Kindly, look into it.

    We wait for nine month in the case of a baby. I think we can wait for three months for a new avatar ISC. Something to wait for better than nothing.

    Private messages are only allowed for admins and moderators. There is no option to send a private message for members. I have send messages to you as well as Tony Sir and on both occasions it said message has been sent. I don't know whether it reaches or not. It is all up to the recipient to confirm it.

    The hope of ISC revival is inversely proportional to the time lapsing from the start of this thread.

    Also, out of sight is out of mind too.

    I have almost forgot about logging in to ISC and going on with my other routine. Something particular reminded me about ISC and so I came in to peep and see what is going on.

    Nothing of hope-giving indications. We may have to forget our sentiments and leave it to natural fate.(sigh sigh)

    Your statement seems to have come out of desperation. Let's hope for the best. Even the ME & her team ( ofcourse, me too!) look like a Care taker Government where they can't take any decisions and waiting for the formation of the new cabinet!

    Dear ISCians(whoever may be still visiting the site),,

    What is your present state of mind regarding a revival and come back of ISC-in whatever avatar? Are you still having hope? Is that hope logical? What reason or ration is behind that keeps you having that hope?

    What you make out from the silence of the ISC establishment? Do you think they have abandoned the ship and now it just floats till the maintenance or whatever domain charges last?

    As mentioned in an earlier response, I had hoped to see the new site up and running in the new year. We are now five months into the year, and no sign of the new portal and no recent updates either.

    I do not think the management has wholly abandoned ship; more likely, something has unaccountably delayed things. The least they could do is let us know what is happening and, to put it bluntly, be frank whether or not there will be another ISC, rather than giving any false hopes to the many loyal members of ISC.

    I agree with the comments of Vandana. She should know what the management plans are. But she is also unaware of the present position. There should be a clear statement from the Webmaster at the earliest.
