Not to forgive or Not to forget- which is worse

We are all familiar with the usage, 'To forgive and forget'.

There are situations where we have to forgive and forget so that we all live in peace. However in human relations there can be situations where people do not forgive or people do not forget or do not do both. This can create very delicate and difficult situations and have its own impact in our day to day life.
Recently I heard a Christian priest, cum family-life counsellor, whose talks are very popular in Kerala. In one of his speeches I heard him say that women may forgive, but they usually do not forget. But men on the other hand forget but do not forgive easily.

Which of these do you find worse and traumatic- Not to forgive or not to forget ?

Not to forgive is worse than not to forget. To maintain better relations with others one should be able to forgive others for their mistakes. But if any person is intentionally harming others, we should not forgive. But certain things happen without any bad intentions. Such mistakes can be forgiven. Once we forgive, the chances of forgetting the same may be high. But if we do not forget the issue, the chances of forgiving the other person will be less.

My view in this regard is completely different. My view is: "Don't forget: Don't forgive". If you don't follow this principle, you will be exterminated very soon.

Not to forgive is worst phrase according to me. We should never keep our mind in the revenge mood. My grandfather used to tell that if a person spoke sullen on us when there is no fault in our side, we should keep ourselves silent by thinking that that person either in hungry or ill or bad mood. At the same time we should forgive him or her immediately.
Not to forget is good in one situation and bad in another situation. It is bad when we are forgetting the ill events of our life which redirects us to a wrong direction or swallowing our mental peace. It is good if we do not forget the good happenings and good deed of others to us as it keeps us reminding to help those did good help to us and keeps our mind in a happy or peaceful mood.
