Why do we write on IndiaStudyChannel (ISC)?

We engage ourselves in various apparently meaningless, time-consuming activities. Some of us produce write-ups in various social media platforms. Some of us create memes using different apps, some create different artwork, some are culinary experts, some of us collect stamps, some write with fountain pens using different inks and some try to develop beautiful handwriting.

All these activities are apparently meaningless. If another person doesn't have any interest on a particular subject, he/she will think that particular activity meaningless. On the other hand, if two or more people having same/similar interest, they would spend hours after hours discussing on that particular subject. I have seen three people from different age-group discuss a particular chess movement hours after hours, and the discussion ultimately ended with foul languages from all sides!

These are our hobbies, our areas of interest. These apparently meaningless activities kill our boredom, make our mind more creative and teach us many new things. Scientists opine that such activities may help our brain to remain active, sharp and creative even in old age. These activities may or may not help a person to earn money. But most of us don't bother to earn money from the activities which we like.

In this context, I would like to know: Why do we write on IndiaStudyChannel? Do we write to earn money and Adsense revenue, or to hone our skill as a writer, or for any other purpose?

Members, why do you spend hours in this moribund (please excuse my choice of adjective) site? Is it only for earning, or to get other type of satisfaction which may be difficult to describe/explain?

ISC is my way of involving in a positive and/or creative time-pass. Though it is in virtual space, when I interact in form, I feel as if the forum friends are all sitting around a table and are discussing face to face.

I initially started writing on this site to improve my language and writing skills. Slowly I got addicted to this site and I hardly spent a day without spending some time on this site. Some members even indirectly criticised me saying that I write for points. Anyhow, I am not worried. I continued my journey. Even when I go on tour after a hectic day even late in the night I try to write something on this site before I go to bed. During this journey, I got some money also which was not very significant for me.

In the beginning when mobile internet was newly launched I started writing just to improve my typing speed. I thought why not search some websites that pay something for written content. ISC was one of the top ranked websites during those days and many people were contributing on it. There was one more website that was hugely popular and their content ranked on first page for most of the educational queries. They too provided good amount to writers during those times. In my opinion nobody would waste their time for free. Only people who have enough time and lots of money would go on writing without any monetary benefits.

We are living in an era where many people are making millions through their videos. Writing and other literary works are losing its value because common folks don't like reading at all. The future generation will just lie in their bed and listen to audio books rather than reading it. No matter how much we love writing or keep ourself engaged in this word, if there are no viewers we will lose interest.

Humble yourself or life will do it for you!
