Today (12th January) is the Birthday of Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda, one of India's greatest spiritual leaders of modern era, was born on 12th January, 1863, in Kolkata. His profound philosophy, inspiring speeches, and tireless work towards youth empowerment have made him an enduring figure in India's history. To honour his contribution, his birthday is celebrated as National Youth Day, a day dedicated to inspiring young minds to embrace strength, courage and service.

Swami Vivekananda's life was a beacon of hope and determination. He believed in the immense potential of the youth to shape the future of a nation. His words,"Arise, awake, and stop not until the goal is reached," remain a clarion call for perseverance and dedication. This quote encapsulates his belief in self-confidence and the power of human will.

Another of his famous quotes, "Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life—think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success," continues to inspire young people to focus their energy and passion on their dreams with unwavering commitment.

Swami Vivekananda's teachings were deeply rooted in human values, universal brotherhood, and selfless service. He believed that true success lies in serving others, as reflected in his words, "They alone live, who live for others; the rest are more dead than alive." This philosophy aligns seamlessly with the spirit of National Youth Day, encouraging young people to work not just for themselves but for the upliftment of society.

Every year many events like processions, speeches and discussions are organized to commemorate his legacy and empower the youth to carry forward his vision of a better world. Swami Vivekananda's teachings are a timeless guide, reminding us of the boundless power within every individual. But I feel instead of organizing events on this particular day, it is more important to follow and implement the teachings of the great monk in our life.

Swami Vivekanand was a person with great memories. He was kept everything in memory even by reading only one time. Once he was in rest as he was ill. His disciple Sarath Chandra was caring him. Disciple saw 25 volumes of Encyclopedia of Brittanica in his shelf. Sarath felt astonished and said himself that to complete them one life is not enough. Hearing this Swami told him that He finished ten volumes within some months. Further Swami asked Sarath to ask him questions from any of the ten volumes. Sarath astonished his memory power by hearing his correct answers.

Swami Vivekananda brought world recognition to Hindu Dharma and laurels to our country. Today's youth should take him as their role model and follow in his footsteps so that we will make our country the best in the world. Many of his sayings will remind us of our responsibilities. Whatever he preached he practised. My salutations to this great legend. Let us be fearless and work for the benefit of our nation.
