Union Budget 2025- Let us discuss

Coming at a time when the Country's economic growth is slowing down, the Budget 2025 assumes greater significance. With the President and the Prime Minister indicating stress on the middle class, expectations are high. What may be the plans to resurrect our economy ? The aim of the budget, as proposed by the Finance Minister, is to stimulate economic growth. With the emphasis being laid on sectors like power, nuclear energy, urban development etc. the strategy seems to be to bring up the middle class to enable them to be become productive partners in economic growth.

Let us analyze the budget as laymen and express our views without any political bias.

This budget brought good news to salaried people. People earning less than 12,00.000/- are exempted from paying tax. There is also a reduction in the tax for people who earn more than 12 lakhs, as per the government announcement up to 1 crore people will benefit from this.
I am happy that some good allocations were made to the state of Andhra Pradesh, which is suffering financially. There is also good news for senior citizens: Up to rs.1.00,000/—in interest earned will not be taxed. I feel it is a middle-class friendly budget.

For income tax payers the only good news is for those who opt for new tax regime. Now they can get nil tax up to 12 lakhs per annum income. For those who are looking for claiming deductions the old regime is the only option and they won't get any benefit. Hence, it is a disappointment for people who have taken home loan, insurance or any other investments because if they opt for new regime they will miss out on these claims.

As I remember, this is the first time that so much relief is given in the slab rates for the tax payers having income upto about 15 lakhs. Middle class is benefited much.

The focus on power, nuclear energy, and urban development is a positive step toward economic growth and job creation. Senior citizens also get relief with ?1,00,000 tax-free interest income, ensuring better financial security. The support for Andhra Pradesh is much needed, given its financial struggles. While the budget seems middle-class friendly, its real impact on economic recovery and growth remains to be seen.
