Ratan Tata was the son of Naval Tata and Soonoo Tata. She was the niece of the founder of the Tata group, Jamsetji Tata. Tata's biological grandfather, Hormusji Tata, was a member of the Tata family by blood. Naval Tata was born in Surat and later adopted into the Tata family. As far as my knowledge goes, Ratan Tata is a distant relative of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Muhammad Ali Jinnah married Rattanbai Petit in 1918. She was a member of the Parsi community.
Ratan Tata did many prominent works for the welfare of the Indian Society. His family relations and his connections are not important, as he never harmed anybody because of his other connections.
