Confusing Thoughts of a Convoluted Mind

For the last three years, Russia and Ukraine are bombing each other.

For almost one and a half year, Hamas, Huthi and Hezbollah are bombing Israel and Israel is bombing their land to take the land back to desert age.

Yet the ozone layer of the world, i.e. ozonosphere is apparently intact. Environment is fine; no pollution has been reported from the war-ravaged countries.

But the environmental issue will come to the fore after one month. Diwali will arrive. Small children will burst a few crackers here and there and the liberals all over the word would unite to resume their fight for environment by banning crackers.

Moral: Don't burst fire-crackers immediately before, during or next day of Diwali.

There is no concern for many people about the environment. But they take out this issue during the Diwali period, as it is a Hindu Festival. Other religions also use firecrackers on many occasions, but no issue of environmental protection will be raised during those times. There are many issues related to pollution, and there are ways to control them. But nobody bothers about those.

"Yet the ozone layer of the world, i.e. ozonosphere is apparently intact. Environment is fine; no pollution has been reported from the war-ravaged countries." - It's true. Everybody is concerned about environment during festive season. Forget about the same when election s are won; a celebrity wedding time and so on.

Partha, thank you that you reminded this. Last year during Diwali, I was in Chennai, and I tell you the kind of crackers bursted by the people here, I have never seen anywhere. Now, I am back with my family in Chennai, I am going to burst crackers on my terrace with my kid and enjoy with others. I seriously don't buy such message from the people who just wake up only during Diwali.

    As I expected!

Diwali is over. No one is now bursting crackers. So, all hullabaloos have stopped. Liberals are now taking a rest after abusing the religious practices of Hindus.

No one is talking about pollution. The danger is over now! It will again resurface just before next year's Diwali.

Confusing Thoughts of a Convoluted Mind is much better than the concocted deceitful disparaging and venomous spewing of inimical minds.

I am one who can see through the devious intentions in the 'eco-friendly', 'global warming', cracker pollution discussions coming only during Diwali or Holi or any other traditional celebrations in India. Hence I consistently post my opposing and disagreeing view on the deliberate rants of so-called anti Diwali cracker groups every year. Many vulnerable, non-thinking people also fall prey to the high decibel high voltage misinformation campaigns from certain vested interested corners and they also join the band wagon of discussions and opinions against crackers.

If we scan through many other similar threads we can see more such views of mine in this matter.

I joined ISC in 2011 and since then on I was posting my clear cut stand on this matter; In this 2011 thread I had opposed the opinion that Diwali crackers are waste. I said" Instead of Diwali crackers, what should be done is to stop smoking and drinking which are the real wastes and negative to one's own health and society's health."
On this thread of 2013 I responded as follows ;"But then, crackers are burst when the home team wins a cricket match, a local candidate wins an election, a political leader is welcomed and on many many occasions, a political or religious procession moves around the town. Those also have to be opposed and discouraged. Crackers are burst exactly at midnight and continues for hours on the New Year celebrations."

Responding to a Forum thread of 2018 I wrote:
"I see some hidden agenda in coming against the Diwali crackers. There is continuous restrictions being applied on matters of one religion in our country . That is why it makes me think about some hidden agenda from certain quarters.
When we pollute the atmosphere with millions of vehicles why to say about a few firecrackers for a day or two by a few people? Air is polluted by aeroplanes, missiles and rockets. Sea is polluted by boats and ships. Land is polluted by motor vehicles and industries. When monsters and giants are there why pick up a small ant? "

The passage reflects on global conflicts and the contrasting attention given to environmental concerns. It notes that for several years, Russia and Ukraine have been at war, while in the Middle East, groups like Hamas, Houthi, and Hezbollah continue to exchange attacks with Israel. Despite continuous bombings, the writer highlights that no major environmental damage or ozone-related issues have been reported from these war-affected regions.
However, the author points out the irony that environmental debates intensify during Diwali, when children burst firecrackers for a short period. According to the writer, public discussions and criticism—often attributed to liberal groups—focus heavily on banning crackers, even though global warfare receives less environmental scrutiny.
The piece ends with a sarcastic "moral," implying that people should avoid bursting crackers only around Diwali, emphasizing the perceived inconsistency in environmental activism.

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
