    Installation of rooftop solar system.

I am thinking of going for rooftop solar system for my house. The electricity bill on average is about Rs 4500/per month. Different vendors are suggesting solar panels of different types and manufactured by different companies. I am advised to go for a 5 KW solar syatem which may cost Rs3,20,000/.

I seek the advise from learned members and those who already installed the system at their homes as to which type of solar panles to chosee and what will be the cost of installation.

There are two types of solar systems available:

    1. On Grid Solar System
    2. Offgrid Solar System

If you are looking for subsidy then an on grid is the only option because both central as well as state government provide subsidies on On grid solar systems.

Off Grid is expensive and government don't provide subsidy on it which makes it an expensive choice. It all depends on your requirements. You haven't mentioned for what system your cost is Rs. 320000. It looks very expensive and definitely an off Grid system.

If there is less power cut in your area then an on grid system is better but if there is longer loadshedding in your area, then on grid will be an useless option because it doesn't provide power backup through batteries and inverters.

Off Grid systems are expensive because it has batteries either lead acid or lithium to give uninterrupted power during power cuts. On grid systems are connected with the grid and they work during day to reduce your electricity bills but in the night you have to completely depend on grid.

Humble yourself or life will do it for you!

Today only I paid the advance for a rooftop solar system. I opted for an on-grid solar System. I opted for a 3 KW solar system. The subsidy we get for 3 KW and 5 KW is the same, and if we produce excess power also we may not get the money for the excess production monthly. That is why they suggested 3KW. My monthly bill, on average, is about Rs 5000/-. But recently, my two sons shifted to another place, and the consumption has come down. So I made this decision.
