On the auspicious day of Dhanteras, we also worship Lord Dhanvantari

Today is Dhanteras. However, this auspicious day also marks the birth anniversary of Lord Dhanvantari, the divine physician and the God of Ayurveda.

The day falls two days before Diwali and holds great importance for health and well-being. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Dhanvantari emerged from the ocean during the Samudra Manthan, carrying the pot of Nectar (Amrit). On this day, people worship Lord Dhanvantari for good health, vitality and long life. Ladies also buy utensils, gold or silver as a symbol of prosperity. Ayurveda practitioners and health enthusiasts honour this day by promoting natural healing, cleanliness and a balanced lifestyle for physical, mental and spiritual wellness.

Today, let us take an oath to work whole-heartedly and collectively for the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of all.

Yes. Today is Dhanvantari Jayanti—the God of health. When the Ksheera Sagaram was skimmed, this God only came out with Amrutha in His hand. All Ayurvedic practitioners worship this God every day before they start their duty.
In our village, there is a Dhanvantari temple. Every day, Pooja will be performed in the temple.
My best wishes to all the members of this site on the occasion of Dhanteras and I pray to God Dhanvantari to protect all of us with good health.
