Story of a former cab driver

Let me tell you the story of a cab driver in Delhi. The cab driver in Delhi in the nineties dreamt every day of becoming an army man.

He finally made it on his third attempt and was assigned to the J & K Rifles. Within a year he was in Kargil and there was a war going on.

On July 4th, 1999, Rifleman Sanjay Kumar volunteered to lead an attack on Point 4875 in the Mushkoh Valley. When they were pinned down by machine gun fire, Sanjay Kumar jumped out and charged. He took a couple of bullets, reached the bunker, killed all three inside, and then turned their machine gun on the rest of the bunkers and fleeing enemy troops.

Sanjay Kumar was awarded a Param Vir Chakra. He was one of the only seven people who have won this award alive.

    Hon. Captain Sanjay Kumar:
Kabhi un mad-bhari ankhon se piya tha ek jaam, aajtak hosh nehi, hosh nehi, hosh nehi—Jigar Moradabadi ("Once I drank a cup from those drunken eyes; till now I haven't regained my senses!")

Great person. Probably his own blood mixed with patriotism. His triumph and courage should be saluted by every Indian. Jai Hind!

Excellent. We should salute such people. He kept his life at risk and taught a lesson to his enemies. The country needs such persons only. He deserves Param Vir Chakra, and we should appreciate the government for recognising duly deserved cases.
