Are students in India focusing more on marks than real skills

More the industry is shifting towards skills based employment more there are opportunities as internships. But the problem is do students still focus on gaining marks or do you think they are now heading towards learning practical skills that can be implemented?

Hasn't that been the goal for quite a long time? In my experience, much of what we learn—both in school (beyond basic skills like reading and writing) and in college—is rarely used later in life. This is true for most of us.

These marks are needed to get us an entry ticket somewhere, but after that, it all comes down to your skills and knowledge. Especially in this era of AI, students need to learn real-world skills from the very start. Very slowly, the government is trying to bring changes by focusing on practical learning, but students still need to go above and beyond if they want to do well in life.

What the author mentioned is very true. Our education system is more towards marks rather than skill development. But nowadays we are finding a shift. People are understanding the importance of skill development and focusing on those issues also. The new education system introduced by the central government is focusing more on practical training and skill development and that is positive move in the right direction.

In those days even in college level the teachers are taking lessons with dedication and by explaining practical examples. It was in the minds of students getting ploughed.
When my professor HOD, taking Marketing Class, in our BCOM gave so many practical examples. One of such is Hawkers and paddlers. He explained such method of advertising by showing some foreign pictures. It was in our mind well. Last year when I saw such persons on Chennai T Nagar road sides, I just remember my Professor and his teachings nearly after 45years.
With mere higher marks, nowadays, establishments are not recruiting but expecting experience. Students should update themselves with practical knowledge on the expecting job focus, by joining the nearby company or organization without comparing big or small and salary.

So, the students should study their subjects with well understanding and practically comparing is highly helpful to lead th

Right now in India, students are slowly shifting from focusing only on marks to building real skills, but marks still matter a lot because of school and family pressure. For example in Gurgaon, many students still aim for high board percentages, but at the same time they are also doing internships, learning coding, digital marketing, or working on small projects. A student with average marks but good practical experience often gets better opportunities than someone with high marks but no skills. So the trend is changing, but the balance between marks and skills is still there.
