Story: The Caretaker’s Echo
IIn a city, there resided a young man named Ranganath who lived with his grandmother after losing his parents in a train accident. He was pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering and held a deep affection for his grandmother, who had taken care of him since his childhood.During the holidays, after completing his college courses, Ranganath and his grandmother visited various places for leisure and also purchased vegetables and other necessities. Whenever his grandmother faced health issues, Ranganath felt profound sorrow and prioritised her care over attending college, and his grandmother reciprocated his affection.
One day, Ranganath's grandmother received a wedding invitation for a distant location. She suggested that Ranganath accompany her, mentioning that they could explore potential brides for him. Although Ranganath felt shy about his grandmother's proposal, he agreed to join her.
However, the day before the wedding, Ranganath had an important examination scheduled that would influence his future: a campus recruitment drive. Consequently, he informed his grandmother that he would not be attending the wedding due to this commitment.
Ranganath's grandmother travelled alone to the wedding by booking train tickets assisted by Ranganath. At the wedding venue, she encountered a young woman, a close relative, whom she believed would be a perfect match for Ranganath. She called him to share her thoughts, and Ranganath, having secured a job through the campus drive, decided to keep this news a secret from her to surprise her later. The bride and her family also accepted the marriage proposal, and plans for the engagement and wedding dates were soon to be established.
Eagerly awaiting his grandmother's return to share his good news about the job, Ranganath turned on the television. Suddenly, a breaking news report flashed across the screen, revealing that the train his grandmother had taken had been involved in a severe accident, resulting in numerous fatalities.
Overcome with grief, Ranganath wept uncontrollably and rushed to the scene to collect the remains of his beloved grandmother. and did the cremation, and he immediately stopped the engagement and subsequent marriage proposal.
He felt upset about his grandmother's death as he was doing his job as a railway mechanical engineer. He saw the bride there who also got recruited in the campus drive Unexpectedly, a news alert regarding a railway accident caught Ranganath off guard. The incident (where his grandmother died) occurred because children playing on the railway tracks placed stones as obstacles, leading to a derailment.
Ranganath felt distress; he approached the bride with whom he had previously cancelled his marriage to discuss the matter. Together, they want to seek a solution to prevent such occurrences in the future.
Ranganath dedicated himself to finding a resolution day and night. Eventually, he devised a solution: he created a sensor that would detect any static objects on the railway tracks. This sensor would alert the train driver via a monitor, indicating the presence of debris that could potentially cause a derailment, allowing for timely intervention to avert accidents.
The bride actively assisted in developing the sensor and presented it to the railway authorities. They appreciated the innovation and expressed interest in implementing it in real-time. Ranganath stipulated that the invention be named after his grandmother, as a tribute to her nurturing spirit, which had cared for him throughout his life.
The railway authorities consented to honour his request, thus ensuring that Ranganath's grandmother would be remembered as a guardian for all travellers using the railway system. Ultimately, Ranganath married the bride, choosing the railway as the venue for their wedding.
